Hi Guys,

I've been kindly donated a pair of CX100s by our very own Leo, Thanks Leo!!! that are in need of some restoration, I spent all morning sanding and polishing the scratches out of the aluminium and I've given them a polish with coconut oil and I'm really happy with the look.

I then proceeded to remove all the old foam surrounds from the woofers for replacement and I noticed that one of the woofers is stuck fast. It won't move :-( I'm not sure what the problem is because it all looks fine to me.

So that leads me to the question.... I'm looking for a replacement... It's the one with the hole in the magnet that's jammed.

Fingers crossed, thanks in advance,

Lee

Sorry Lee, I didn't know it was jammed. If it looks like it is already stuck, maybe you could try to give it a good push to see if it would release? Can't se a reason it should be stuck. Might be the capacitor that is broken also.

Send me an email, and we can take something of the shipping price. I thought it was only the surrounds that was the issue Sad

Hi Leo,

I've tried gently forcing it and it will move but it is very stiff. I'm going to take the dust cap off and see if I can see what's going off.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow

Thanks again!!

Lee

I cut the dust cap off to have a look at the voice coil and it's got a crack down it :-( at least I've learned something and can see why it's jammed.

I managed to get hold of a replacement woofer for the stuck one... Turns out the same speaker on the other side (although freely moving) is dead :-( I've tested it with a multi meter and it has no continuity :-(

Can anyone help??
