Hi Beophiles!

I have a Beomaster 2400-2 that I recently inherited along with a Beogram 2404 and a Beocord 1900 (thank you rich relatives wanting to update their HiFis!) which I happily added to my Beogram 4002.

I love the aesthetics of this system and the cool futuristic controls of the 2400-2.

I was slightly disappointed to discover that once I set it all up (with some big old 70's hi-fi speakers) that the left channel has less bass than the right channel.

I did all the usual things like swapping the speaker connections and checking the bass/treble/fader controls and the loudness switch but the problem is still there - in all functions, tape/phono/radio.

Does anyone know what might be making the channels have different treble & bass outputs? Also does anyone know a repair place in Melbourne, Australia that would be happy to take a look at B&O stuff?

I recently overhauled a BM 1900 and an 2400. The most common problems are related by cracked capacitors and yours sounds like a broken slider/potentiometer.

I have an 2400-2 also and that is ihmo the most beautiful beomaster in that "ruler" range. So a good overhauling pays itselfs back over a longer periode.

I would agree - needs an overhaul. The 2400 is possibly not the one to start with though - not the easiest to put back together as it has a lot in that elegant box! If you have the funds, pay for someone to change the capacitors and variable resistors that will have gone out of spec: the fact it works at all is a good sign!! Smile

Thanks for the info. It's beyond my abilities to fix so I'll be looking for an Australian repairer...

I'm really glad I joined Beoworld!

Hi Peter,

I recently acquired two beomaster 2400-2, one of them is working fine and delivers perfect sound everything fine.

The second one is to be repaired: lamps out of order, capacitors to be changed, also I am missing the remote control and one of the arm supporting the panel giving access to the controls.

I do have the schematics and would like to repair myself.

Can you please advise how I could get the missing parts and procedures to change it.

Thanks a lot

Cheers

Hello,

Actually I did replace all the capacitors which needed to be replaced and it solved al my issues I was facing such as poor sound, equipment starting when in stand by mode etc...

Although it might be necessary to change the power supply filtering capacitors, they are more resistant. I did not have to change it.

There is a "capacitor kit" for this equipment and you should ask Mr Martin DILLEN who can provide such, easily foundable on the forums. Should you wish also to replace the bulbs ask him also.

Regards

Alain
