Hi,

Is the ambiophonic adapter safe to use on the Beomaster 8000?

I want to have a pair of cx100s as rears to my Pentas at the front.

But it would be pointless. The BM8000 does not have the ambiophonic circuitry needed and no 'ambio' switch as on the receivers which do have the required circuitry such as the BM4000, 4004, 6000, BS1001 etc. see beophile.com under 'ambio phonics'.

The external ambio adapter was in fact intended for use with Beomasters (and other amplifiers) that didn't have the ambio function built in.
The adapter is safe to use with all Beomasters since it merely introduces an output (really two parallel outputs) derived from the
left and right phases. In other words, the ambio speakers merely played the difference from the left and right channels.
In mono they will be silent.

Dave the external adapter is for amps without inbuilt ambio circuits to add ambiophonic functionality.

Thanks Martin. I can happily order one now.

Hi Lee,

I'd just woken up and was still fretting about my S3 issues!!  Yes, I actually used one with my BC9500.  With Pentas at the front and CX100's at the rear I'm not sure how much of a difference you will notice?  I didn't like the effect - it was more like an echo so stopped using it.  Interesting to hear your thoughts on it in a set-up like that though.

Dave.

Hi Dave,

I'll let you off Wink haha..

As I understand it the effect is only good for certain records. I will let you know my thoughts once its all set up in a few weeks.

Hope you get your S3 issues sorted out.

Lee
