Hello

I have a mint BEO 1202 turntable that came from Europe. All is perfect but I cannot get the 50/60HZ converter for it so RPM's are off. I live in NYC.

How to proceed? I would love to use it as I am a big LP collector.

Any leads are welcomed!

Tx. Béco

Welcome to Beoworld !

Get a 60Hz motor or machine a new size idler wheel as Soren Mexico did some time ago.

A 60Hz motor unit will have to come from a US-spec donor. I doubt you will find one elsewhere.
A different idler wheel is a DIY-job. See Soren Mexicos thread - he made one.

The 50Hz motor will run on 60Hz, no problems, but the belt drive pulley will have to be 20 % smaller, I made a new pulley, look here

Hello Soren

Thank you so much for the instructions and photos. Unfortunately I am not skilled enough to open the turntable and create the new piece for it.

There really isn't any way to convert the 50/60Hz that is more simple? There is not such a commercial transformer to buy?

Tx!

Only way to transform 60Hz to 50Hz or visa versa, is with a 60Hz motor driving a generator producing 50Hz, there was a kit from B&O to convert from 50 to 60 Hz, but they are nowhere to be found today, the kit was also a mechanical conversion.

If you can get the idler wheel with the belt pulley out, you can send it to me, and I will make a new belt pulley, as in my thread, and send it back to you. I will charge you the postage. But to get the BG working it will be necessary to clean and lubricate everything and adjust everything according to repair manual, there is no easy way to do it, but you will then have a deck that last for another 20-30 years.

This will.  Maybe if you do some googling you'll find a less expensive one.

It wont, it is the other way around, 50 to 60Hz, Maybe a 110V AC to 12V DC converter and then a 12V DC to 220V AC 50Hz converter could do it, the European 12V DC to 220 AC should be 50Hz, if it will work, I dont know, the amperes and watt usage must be calculated carefully

Hmm - correct.   Listing is in error when it states:  "designed for use in the United States, Mexico, and Canada."

It doesn't say that. It says: The IF-VC is designed for corded electric shavers, turntables, and other small electronic appliances that are designed for use in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. That is correct. So it's made for appliances that need 120v 60 Hz and converts higher voltage and 50Hz to this.

It's not the best worded advert though.

Dave.

Wow -  The plot thickens quickly around here. ;-)

I was super happy with the info and was ready to buy one of those transformers (even at U$149.00).

It seems amazing to me that we are able to invent machines that can go to Mars and beyond but not a silly Hz converter??

Tx!
