Hi all. Recently i noticed some brownish spots around the center of the screen of my 2006 BV7-32. I do not think it is clouding because it does not appear on dark scenes. It is only visible on very white/ light grey/ light blue scenes, like snow, clear sky, sea. I am feeding my HD-Ready TV with HD Sat and Blu-rays. It is independent of the source. Does anyone know if this could be a picture settings issue or calibration by the dealer? Or does it mean the panel is getting closer to its end? Thanks for all your help. Pictures will follow.

It's dust between the diffusion layers inside your panel. It can be cleaned, but it's a lot of work!

Are you sure DoubleU? At least this is encouraging. When you say a lot of work, i think you refer to be brought to dealer service?

Not sure though. If your lucky, it's only the glass-panel.

What you have is a common fault on the Mk1 and early Mk2 screens.  When collecting we always go into the white test scale menu (on the service menu) to expose this issue.  If we see clouding, we don't buy - it's not worth it.

The 7-32 has flourescent backlighting and the light is dispersed by a diffuser which can discolour with heat, giving these cloudy sections where the light isn't being dispersed evenly - hence the dark patches.

Here's the issue...  The diffuser is an integral part of the LCD panel, so it's a panel replacement - even though the actual screen isn't faulty.  I was told by an engineer that for an extra £5-10 in production, the diffuser could have been made a separate part.. but that never happened.

DrDimitris - In fairness, I don't think it'll get much worse on your screen. That's as bad as they get on the whole - I've only seen a few worse than that.

Sorry for the bad news..  Erm..

I once had a BV7-32 without HDMI lended by my dealer when my BV10 broke (see pic) and the middle of the screen had circular dark spots like on your Tv.

It happened only on bright pictures.

At the time, I thought I would have been furious if it was my Tv.

So I confirm the very bad news for your panel.

Thank you all for your assist. Yes. i had a verdict from my local B&O Service and they said it is the backlight of the panel that has the issue. The cost for replacing it will be 1200 euros including work, VAT and 1 year warranty. As i am not on the sweet spot of changing to a bigger panel right now, V1 would mess my Beolink around the house, i am thinking of going to change the panel.

What do you think of the price? Is it worth to get 3-5 more good years with my setup? And also is it possible to order a panel from higher MK's(e.g. MKIII, IV or even VI)??? (Service say no, we can only have a new MKII panel, same as the old one, but i trust you guys more) Smile

Ouch - I certainly wouldn't spend €1,200 on a panel repair when there appear to be plenty of BV-7-32 panels floating about on eBay for much less than that (in the UK) anyway....

I would sell your current panel for 'spares/repairs' for a couple of hundred and then source a good used 7-32 panel to drop in.

But that's just my opinion!

Thanks for that jkhamler  Smile. But UK is easier on B&O stuff than Greece i am afraid. Ebay purchase with shipping to Greece is far more risky and costs enough to put you away. In local market is very rare to find. So i ended up on this option.

I just want to know from Lee or others who might know if i can only replace it with a MKII panel or i can go for a newer one that fits in the old chassis.

I have had these on my set for a long while now, they haven't got any worse and I can live with it. I wear glasses and its almost like they need a wipe!!

A common misconception is that the latest 7-32 panels are totally different.  Aside from the contrast ratio improving, they're all 720p - right up to the last one to leave Struer..

Thank you Lee. Dealer says that he email back Struer before they order on this. But he still did not know this. So thanks once again for your help. I always feel better relying on friends here, than service guys. Wink

@Nick : I was also reluctant Nick. .But slowly i feel it messes with my nerves...Big Smile
