Hi guys!
The rubber on my idler got a bit hard due to age and I was thinking about sending the idler on a trip to a rubber expert.
I know that there are some of you that have refurbed your idler wheels at Terry's Rubber Rollers and Turn Table Basics. But, does anyone know any Europe based companies that would refurb those pesky idlers?
Sending such delicate stuff to US and risking getting it lost is kinda not something I want.
Thanks for your help
I thought I'd 'bump' this up the forum rather than post roughly the same question again.
I'm fixing up an older system in my spare time and the tape player has a rubber wheel/clutch that doesn't stick/engage with the main drive spindle. With drive belts you can simply buy new replacements, but is there a recommended way to make rubber sticky again like a glue-style product to apply? (The opposite of cleaning alcohol!)
Depending on the rubber mixture, you can dissolve the outermost layer, but it will evaporate again and it's never a lasting solution, sincethe problem is almost always that some (solvent-based) ingredients within the rubber mixture simply evaporates or certain chemicals seek tothe surface and makes it hard with loss of friction as the result.
In many Beocords, you can grind off the hard surface using sandpaper, the surface will first turn white and hard and underneath itwill be soft and rubbery. But what has gone has gone, and it will never be like new again.Coatings will not last and you cannot make these rubber mixtures absorb "something" that wont ruin it.Only proper solution is a replacement.
Many Beocord idler wheel rubber parts are available now (from me). Made from a fairly new material, that doesn't dry out, doesn't lose friction andwith practically no "memory effect" (it will fall back and not stay deformed if forced out of shape, even for a considerable amount of time).New Beogram idler wheels - very soon.

Ah Martin, we’ve been waiting for those for ages. Can’t wait!

Hi Dillen, I also need a new/refurbed idler wheel. Do you have any ready to go?
A few - depending on the type of wheel in your Beogram - flat disc or holed.
it's a holed disk for beogram 3000 type 5228 , 1973/4
I should have a couple ready in a few weeks.
Hi Martin.
I need one for my BC3500, please keep me one as soon as you have enough supply for everyone.

Hi Martin,
I have just signed up to Beoworld hoping to find some help in getting a replacement drive wheel for my 1973 1202.
Are any still available please?
