I see where the Essence remote can be configured for other uses. Looking at the chart it looks like one of the options is Beo 4 Radio command. Does that mean that there is no way to use an Essence remote to activate N. Music or N. Radio, or A. Aux? Only Radio?
I would like to use to activate N. Radio on my Beosound 5, but as I also have a Beosound 3000 connected it looks to me like all I could do with the Essence remote is activate the radio in the 3000?

Yes, I agree not a perfect solution. But for my purposes, most likely a satisfactory and cost effective solution. If I just want background music I will use N. Radio or N. Music from the Beosound 5 and thus still have one press access to music. If I want to choose specific music, that is when I will use the Essence. So I will press A. Aux on the Beo 4 and then use the app to select what I want to listen to.
I also have an unused Active Kit eye/receiver in the wall. I noticed Set Top Brackets has an adapter that allows the Essence Remote to be placed in the already present mounting. Looks beautiful. I would like to be able to put an Essence Remote in there and have access to music with just one touch of it. But it does not seem possible to have it activate N. Music or N. Radio.
I suppose I could remove the 3000 (and it's radio) from the system. Then connect the Essence to the Aux In on the Beosound 5. And assign Radio to N. Radio.
Then pressing Radio on the Beo 4, or pressing the Essence remote would start N. Radio which is my goal. I really don't need the 3000 connected to the system anymore. I just like the way it looks and occasionally seeing the glass doors open is part of the B and O magic.
Raeuber: 2. If you connect the Essence to A.AUX of e.g. Beosound 3000 it is not possible to start music with one step: First activate A.AUX of BS 3000 and second press button of Essence Remote or use Beomusic app. Not a perfect solution in my opinion.
Having the remote in Beo4-mode and pressing the button (sending radio command) will start n.radio.
I had it set up with tune-in, and pressing the button made the last radio channel chosen to start playing.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
So it will start N. Radio regardless of what the last source was? And start the last N. Radio channel playing?
Another question about the Essence Remote. Will it control the volume of whatever source is playing? With the Beo 4 it does not matter what source is playing and what source is displayed on the Beo 4, it will still control volume. For instance, with the Beosound 5 playing, even if the last button pressed on the Beo 4 were DTV and DTV is displayed in the screen, it will still control the volume. Thanks!
- Essence remote can control volume of audio or video sources. But you can't change the mode on the fly. You have to set it into Beo 4 audio or video mode and only video sources that listen to the Beoremote one. Here's the documentation from B&O: http://www.beointegration.com/uploaded/BeoSound_Essence_Remote_IR_modes.pdf
Short press in Beo 4 radio mode (Beosound): RadioLong press: CDSo you could set the Beomaster 5 as an audiomaster and reassign the commands. Than the Beomaster 5 will start N.Radio with a short press on the Essence remote and N.Music if you press longer. It should work this way. Can't test it at the moment as my Beosound 5 is currently not in my B&O setup.
Thanks! I had previously looked at the document you posted and I thought it would work, exactly as you described, however was not totally sure if I was reading it correctly. Thank you for confirming that my reading of the document was correct. Very much appreciated!
And another question on Essence Remote: when it is sold as table remote version, I remember at introduction there were different metal plate colors shown... ...now it seems only gray is available?
Anyone perhaps has a "demo" or "test production" metal slate in a different color or could that be ordered from a reseller?

Well I'd take any just to easily differentiate one remote from another.
And I agree light blue is nice.
BeoBoy68:Shame that another Colors are not available.
BeoNut since '75
elephant:I was surprised when ordering mine that the option had disappeared
Does this mean that at one point, different colored bases were available to the general public?
