Yes, I know it could be impossible or too much hassle. But my Beocenter 8500 is like a beautiful object d'art and I really want to try adding it somehow to Multiroom. After a lot of research, I am still puzlled as I never understood ML and MCL properly (I am fresh to B&O).
Few comments:
1.) I just need to be able to "add" BC8500 with attached speakers to multiroom, not use it as a source
2.) I have Apple Airport Express today connected to it and I stream via AirPlay
3.) Apart from Beolink Converter NL/ML I don't mind buying an optional IR Receiver for simple operation
What I don't understand yet:
Could it be I only miss ML-->MCL cable adapter if such thing exists?
Since I stream everything wirelessly around the house, how the Beolink Converter joins BC8500? Does it have WiFi built in?
So, two years later I still haven't decided which path to take? :)
One option that looks elegant is buying a BS Core and connect BC8500 to its line in input. With that, I have no control whatsoever on CD play/stop/next/previous from the B&O app naturally. But I can share CD sound from BC8500 across multiroom which is what I ultimately want to achieve.
The alternative, if I get it correctly, is first a MCL/ML converter followed by a Beolink Converter 1790. If set up properly this should allow I believe basic controls of CD playback? Just to reconfirm and evaluate how much it makes sense to go this route...
Someone here in the forum posted that he was able to control an old Beogram through the Beolink Converter 1790, so I guess that's the better way to go.
But I'm just guessing as I currently have no 1790. Other forum members can explain the 1790 functionality better.
