Check out almando powerplay.
small (important) buyer beware: the almando has a small but noticeable 'ghost'noise that you don't get when connecting a source directly to the speakers. On bl8000 less noticable then bl9.
I sent a mail in July to almando but they never bothered to answer:

Hello,
While I have no need to do so, I have wondered the same thing as the initial question in this thread. I just looked at one of my Beolab 9s, and I do not see any difference between the two PowerLink connections. I also have 1s, 4000s, and 6000s and have always understood there to be no difference between the two PowerLink connectors on each speaker.

There is no difference, you can use either, but not both (for different sources - or rather you should not!).
Normally the second/the free one is used for daisychaining to a next BeoLab.
Every PL-cable carry the right and the left signal - therefore the swich on the speakers to determine, which one to play right and which one left.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
I had the same issue with my BL1s and could not do it. I have a BV11 with BL1s connected, and a McIntosh pre-amp for music that I wanted to use the BL1s with. Based on feedback from here and some further reading, I will try to connect the pre-amp RCA stereo output to the mini-DVI connector on the BV11 and see if that works. Not sure about sound degradation, but will see. Otherwise separate speakers will be the next steps. In terms of AV/Projector, I am not sure there is a solution for that except some expensive integration (if possible at all).

I didn't bother checking BL9 in particular, but generally in Beolabs that have two PL sockets, both of them are simply wired in parallel (think of it as a built-in Y cable adapter). So there are no functional nor electrical difference between them.
So you would be connecting the line level audio outputs of both systems together, but probably more significantly, all the control signals as well ("power on" etc). This might even damage something.

Michael: Otherwise I should probably just feed audio and picture mute the avant so I get the front speakers as well. I just like being geeky and try all funny solutions :-)

If you are talking 'the new Avant', you have lots of speaker group to configure for what ever you want your connected speakers to do/to be.
The guys in Struer are also 'geeky' and have prepared the audioengine in the Avant for all kinds of 'funny solutions'.
You will end up with diminished volume and not get the intended result.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
Yes the new Avant. And yes I know I can do a lot of speaker groups (which I already have). But I want to use the speakers with the Avant turned off. For example with a projector, but perhaps that won't even be an issue (if I dont buy one). I bought a new apartment about a week ago and I will get the keys in december, so I am trying to consider my choices. The worst thing is that the new place doesn't have DVB-C or DVB-T, only Fiber TV that requires a special STB from swedish ISP Telia. I might try an DVB-T antenna but we'll see. I am also considering Altona HDMI matrix solutions to put everything neat and tidy in a closet. Including all kinds of TV games etc. *dreaming* haha.
I just wanted to resurrect this instead of starting a new thread...
I have a set of BL9s I would like to connect to a Beosound 9000, in conjunction with another source. I was using a little Yamaha DAC/Streaming music player before that.
I would like to connect both sources to the BL9s.
On the one hand, I could just feed the Yamaha streaming music player into the AUX IN on the BS9000. However, I would loose the ability to just turn on (trigger) BL9 speakers (through the BS9000) from my phone when i walk through the door after a hard day at work.
It seems like the last time it was discussed (and I imagine many other times), there were some recommendations... but Im somewhat unclear if there is a simple answer as to weather one can connect two sources to a set of BL9s without having to purchase an entire Beocenter unit.
After a couple of years since this discussion, any easy way this can be done?

Do you have two BeoLab 5 connected as front speaker on a BeoVision TV Avant, and would be able to stream music from, for example, a Naserver or another analog stereo audio source for the same set of BeoLab 5 - directly without the TV set be turned on.

Hi,
One thing I would stress is that the twin Powerlink sockets on many Beolab speakers should not be used to connect multiple sources directly to the speakers (the only exceptions are Beolabs 5, 50 and 90, which can accept multiple connections). For all other speakers, you will have major sound problems (including loss of volume, buzzing, distortion, noise, thuds and pops through the speakers, etc) if you try to connect two devices to the speakers.
The simplest option is to connect the speakers to one source and then link the second source to a spare input of the main source so that it can indirectly share the speakers. This can take a bit of planning, but it will give the best sound quality and ease of use.
I haven't tried the switching box that Peter Pan mentioned, but I note the comments in the thread above that this has been reported to caused unwanted noises through the speakers.
I am always happy to help with individual setup advice on request.
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

Thanks Peter Pan!
I haven't tried this device, but I would be interested to hear from other Beoworlders who have used it.
