Hi do anyone have experience with setting up WiFi for multi room
I live in a 2 floor flat with the main router in first floor and access point (old router converted) on 2nd floor.
Jukebox lose connection and can't reconnect if access point is switch on.
Looking forward to any advice :-)
Kind Regards
Christian
Hi Christian and welcome
In asking for help, you have to be more specific on your network setup and Moment's setup. Experience shows that the Moment punishes you immediately if something is wrong with the network.
a) How is the range of your access point. No two homes are alike, and no two solutions will work for everyone .
b) What type router and access point are you using, is the connection between both hard wired.
c) Are you sure everything its setup exclusively on the old converted router to access point. No conflicts?
d) ...
"Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see, let your ears tell you the truth."
Hi Chris, thanks for getting back to me :-)
For sure Moment ponishes you right away if it's up to B&O ruels :-(
a) The range of the Access Point cover the hole 2nd floor and can even boost through to 1st floor (n router)
b) My router is Arris WTM652g (g router Claro intenet providers supplied) & the Access Point (n router) D-link Dir-655B1 they are wired up ethernet - ethernet via Cat5 cabel) DHCP is disconnected & the IP address on the access point have been set outside the Router primary DHCP addresse range.
c) I'm of course not sure everthing have been set correct as I'm not a computer nerd :-) and just follow network setup instructions found on the internet, with the setting above I actually had moment running on 2nd floor but found later on that Jukebox loos the connection on 1st floor after a while & same time the BeoMusic app did not work moving from one net to another
d) Where Moment is located is I have a signal strenght around 80 from the Router & around 60 from the Acces Point, but I have notice that from time to time the Access Point actually mange to go higher in signal than the Router signal
If you got time I could send you a PDF of all my setting & I do not mind pay for your time if you think you can get it up running.
Kind regards
Hi Christian
I would be a long story, so I sent you a mail. You could try this settings as a beginning.
If your using two or more access points in a home network without using enterprise solutions, there is still no fluid handover possible. When you transition from one area to another, you don't connect to the next strongest AP unless you lose connection with the old one. Probably in your case, when you enter the other floor the Jukebox looses connection and has to reconnect to the Network & Soundhub again. Some devices can complete this process so fast that you can’t even feel it. But also some clients needs a little longer time to finish this process. In my experience, clients hop to other AP’s only when they want to, which greatly varies (some are more aggressive in roaming then others). In this case with the Jukebox, you can feel this disconnection obviously.
Problem Sorted, send the Stereo back to the dealer and got refunded my money, the product will never work and B&O is not willing to look into it. Installed a Denon Heos Link togehter with BeoTransmitter for my Beolab 18 and for volumen RCV3000 never changed anything to the network as it was already had a perfect setup I have now been running for 6month and not failed once, as interface I use a Sony tablet Z3 get more feature than the Beo Moment. It works pefect yahoo and I sold all my B&O shares as for sure the way they running there business in Struer I do understand why the struggle survive. I still love my Beolab 18 maybe B&O just should consentrate about what they are good at.
