I decided to return the Moment for a refund. For those of you who have decided to persevere, I hope a solution to its many problems is found soon.
Igadiz: Even with delays set at minimum in my SkyQ, my tv and the Moment, the picture still comes a couple of seconds before the sound. It is basically unusable for TV sound. Like I said, the Core does a much better job. I have correspondence with Lyle regarding the mood wheel. I quote: ”This issue you are experiencing is with the service that provides the Mood data to us, and not the software itself. We and our partner has been trying to solve for some time now and without success. Our team is not creating a new solution to repair this functionality for the outer too rooms. We expect to have the new solution available in the beta in 3 weeks, and in the meantime the partner could also solve at there side. (This is the topic that is holding us back from releasing the beta)”. Fingers crossed a solution will be found soon.

In the latest beta this has been delivered.
the inner rings still plays music from your own collection (Deezer & DLNA)
the middle ring plays mood dependent (and popular) music that has been released in the past / not recently
the outer rings plays the latest music for a particular mood.
the big change here is that the music is not generated based on the playlist by the mood provider (and the algorithms used) but from Deezer playlists , which are (partly) curated by humans. Also the greyed out rings problems should now be solved.
I have tested this and so far this gives superior results compared to the old situation; no out of place songs anymore in either the middle or outer ring (I regularly got very obscure songs in the queue, for some reason a relative big portion of them from Germany; guess that algorithm still needed some work...). In the new set up these weird choices are gone an the queues generated are a joy to listen to. I never really used the middle and outer ring before but now I really enjoy both. Will continue to test to see if this continues to be the case.
Almost all of the functionality of the Besound Moment now works properly. My only complaint now is pattern play; somehow it almost always starts with the same mood, while my listening habits are actually quite divers. I have reported this and I am awaiting the results (anyone else has this?)
It has taken a very long time for the software to be mature (for a large part because of DLNA issues) and I can understand B&O has stopped with selling the Moment. However if I was them I would reconsider. This now is (or will very soon be) a great player with a fairly unique proposition:
FLAC playback
Moodwheel (own, old, new music)
Patternplay (the "Nest of music"; ok needs some work)
(seamless) Integration with other B&O devices (Beovision / Beolab)
Multiroom
Premium look and feel (wood)
Iif I was them I would release (option1) a second generation Moment which is better looking (keep the wood and better integration of the "tablet") with more powerful hardware and connections (SPDIF for example) , that only supports Deezer ( / no DLNA support; not really needed with FLAC for a lot if customers) at a slightly low costs.
I would also release (option 2) a premium version with DLNA for those who need it, but I would build the hardware for it into the Soundheart and take controle of the DLNA server and its software (to minimise variations / issues). This option could be sold at the same or slightly higher price as the old Moment.
With it I would continue to release new functionality / small improvements in the same fashion as phone apps gets released. Of course they would need to invest even more in regression testing to make sure no new issues are introduced in the new versions.

note that the middel ring now mixes "own" (music in collection) music with other (mood relevant) music; or so it seems after initial testing.

I think that thanks to new way of leveraging Deezer playlists to service middle and outer ring, chances are that more of these songs are also part of your own Deezer collection, specially if your Deezer collection is large, while before, those German folkloric songs may not have been part of your preferred Deezer tracks :-)
That said, I noticed the same behavior and it is possible that the team is working on reducing these events which are not so intrusive IMO

I think you are right.. My library is indeed large. I actually like to the mix and match of own and other songs and hope they will not change this behavior; additional argument being that changing this makes the software more complex with additional risk of bugs.....

Hiort:Moment is no longer looking into what music you have when serving middle and outher rings.
I don't think it ever did, the logic is only Mood based IMO (by experience, what was previously offered by these middle & outer rings had nothing linked to my own collection).
What changed in the current beta is (1) the track selection for these rings is no longer managed by the SH but by the JB and (2) the reference is no longer the mood provider that is still used to stamp the mood on your DLNA tracks but instead the music streaming provider playlists managed by users like you and me.
The new way of managing middle & outer rings is bringing me more value than the previous one, and I'm definitely using these rings now, I even discover new artists that I add to my favorites, which has never been the case before.
