Hi,
I'll be looking at a used (wall-mounted) beovision 7 tomorrow (in the US) and would like to know what the easiest way is to find out what model/type it is. Are all models in the US at least MKIII?
I did some searching but did not find a clear answer. What are the main differences between the various marks and is there one to look out for?
Thank you for your help!

Hi there
I'm fairly confident, but you may want to double check - the MKIII was the first model in the US of the BV7.
There are limited obvious signs between a MK3, 4, 5. The subsequent 3D model obviously comes with glasses.
The key differences were these:
- Introduction of Blu-Ray instead of DVD (MK4)
- Introduction of no media drive option (MK4)
- Move from DVB to a DVB-HD board (MK4)
- Upgraded power supply
- Upgraded LCD panels (brighter and faster refresh) and later a shift to LED backlit.
Some of these changes necessitated usage of the onboard HDMI ports, thereby taking you from 4 to either 3 or 2 depending on configuration.
But fundamentally, all models are based on the same modified Beosystem 3 chassis that remained consistent through to the 3D model where there are modest changes to support this functionality. Some will say that getting a MK4 or 5 is the best way to go, due to a slightly brighter panel - but in fact the refresh rate is the worthwhile feature - but a MKIII is also a very good product as well with a beautiful picture akin to current plasma versus the overly bright/saturated panels coming off the line today that are LED and engineered to reducing size/weight and power consumption.
Best tip - make sure the software is the latest rev. Regardless of model (exc. 3D) they all run the same firmware and this is not a B&O strength. It take about an hour for the dealer to upgrade it.
Hope that helps.
The US models of Beovision 7-40 and 7-55 are:-
