Hello,

I own a beovision 8 and an Apple TV. I would like to control the Apple TV with my beo4. Do I need other hardware to realize this or is it also possible without new hardware? Could you please tell me where I can find these settings?

thank you!

Hi, welcome to the forum!!

You will need Apple Remote adding to the PUC list by your dealer, they will come out and hook up a laptop and add what you need.

....and you need an 'ir-cable' going from the BV8 to the ATV.

Be sure to tell him to bring one with him.

If youu enter the connection menu and assign atv to a av/scart/hdmi connection you should see a list of puc controlable devices. Maybe apple remote is already listed?

Living Room: Beosystem 4, Beolab 7-2 (Center), Beolab 9 (Fronts), Beolab 8000 (Rears), no Subwoofer. Screen: Sony KD-85XH9096
Dining Room: Beosound Essence MK II with Beolab 4000 on stands, fed by Amazon Echo Show 8
Home Cinema: Beosystem 4, Beolab 7-4 (Center), Beolab 1 (Fronts), Beolab 4000 (Rears). Projector: Sony VPL-HW55
Home Office: Beosystem 3, Beolab 7-4, Beolab 5000, Screen: Sony KD-55XH9005 on Beovision 7-40 stand, ML to Beosound 9000 MK3 and Beosound 5/Beomaster 5 (1 TB SSD version)
Bedroom: Sony KD-65XH9077, Beosound Essence MK II with Beolab 6002 and Beolab 11 (all white, wall-mounted)

If Apple TV is not listed in the list of controllers, on the Apple TV, goto Settings, Goto Remotes and it will learn the commands from another device - so you then call up the STB/PUC menu and choose a STB for ATV to learn the commands from -  I have programmed mine using Humx I think - takes a bit of time but you can assign the keys to anything you want - you do of course need the IR eye and make sure it is connected to the right IR socket on the source menu in the BV8 - it works really well with the scrolling functions and everything else.

It useful to do it this way if you have 2 Apple TVs and dont want them both to act on the same command - or if ATV is not listed like with the older Avants etc.

Hello,

thank you for your replies! The Apple tv is connected with HDMI to the beovision 8. The beovision switches to the Apple tv under the v.mem button. The Apple remote is also available in the puc menu. I just do not have an IR cable. Is it not possible to do it without this cable? I also tried to "learn" my Apple tv to react to my beo4, but this is not working for me.

Thank you!

kind regards, Luc

Get the cable - that is a cheap solution and an easy one too.

Hi,

I bought the cable, and it works great!

I was wondering, is it possible to turn the tv screen off while the audio keeps on? for example: when I listen to music through my apple tv, i get this "nice" apple nature pictures on my tv screen. Is it possible to turn the tv screen off and still keep listening to the audio?

Thank you :)

You should be able to do P-Mute on your BEO4.

Dave Farr:

You should be able to do P-Mute on your BEO4.

Dave.

Which is a "soft" key

Press LIST and the red/orange standby button

Select ADD on the Beo4 screen

then press LIST to work through the list

Select P-MUTE by press GO button

Now you just use LIST to pull up P-MUTE

BeoNut since '75
