I have a limited budget and zero exposure to B&O's active speakers.

I have a cherished set of BeoVox MC120.2's I am refurbing a BeoCenter 9000 to run with them.

Question is, what is the better speaker vs. Better investment between a set of Penta's or BeoLab 1's.

In Australia at the moment, you can get a set of Penta's off eBay for around AU$1 - 1.5K and BeoLab's run out at AU$2.5 - 3.5K

Pentas and Lab 1's offer completely different sound sensation so it willl depend on your taste!

Pentas offer old fashioned, smooth, easy listening, old fashioned B&O sound whereas Beolab 1's offer the more modern cold clinical sound, much preferred by today's hifi nuts. Lab 1's are very bass light for their size but improve dramatically with a little help from a Beolab 2, with the emphasis on "little" help.
