Hello there,

I have a BeoSound 5 / BeoMaster 5 in my dining room and a BeoVision 10 in my lounge.

Both rooms are separated by a wall.

I would like to drill a hole in the wall to connect the BM5 to the TV.

Which cable have I to use to connect the two ? A HDMI to DVI-I Adapter Cable ?

And what about the options of the BS5 and the BV10 ?

Thanks.

I connected my Beomaster 5 to beovision 10 by a masterlink cable. No more cables needed Controlling Beosound 5 can be done via Beovision and sound via speakers connected on beovision 10.

Beovision 10-46, Beo6, Beosound 5+ Beomaster 5, Beolab 12.2, Beolab 12.3, Beocom 6000

You will need a DVI - HDMI cable. Assign the HDMI port to PC (beomaster5).Try two room setup with V.OPT 2 and A.OPT 2.

System must be masterlinked.

Two solutions:

One is for sound (and control) only).

The other is for displaying - and controlling via - the menu of the BM5 with the option of showing pics too.

Both will work.

However, I an not sure, whether (in the second example) a sound connection by RCA or spdif in addition to the video connection will be needed or not? If my memory serves me well (enough), it is so!

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Thank you guys for the answers.

May be i can say one more thing : there are no speakers connected to the BV 10. Only a pair of BeoLab 3 on the BS5/BM5.

So, i'm going to buy 2 cables : a masterlink and a DVI to HDMI.

Correct ?

Oui.

In this two room setup it is important, that the audio room can't detect ir commands sent in the video room and vice versa.

Reading this thread may me think perhaps I would like to connect my BS5 to my BV10 with the additional cable so I could see and make music  selections on the TV. However, looking at the Beomaster 5 user guide online, it says the N. Music and N. Radio menus are only visible on a TV when there is no Beosound 5 connected. So it looks to me like with a Beosound 5, the only benefit of and HDMI/DVI cable would be web browsing and viewing pictures?

My BM5 (with BS5) has been connected to my BV7 using DVI-HDMI and SPDIFF for sound. Worked fine.

I decided to connect the BM5 to my kitchen TV instead, BV8-40, as main use with BM5 to a TV was viewing pictures (which I still think is far far better than DNLA, especially with 20.000+ pictures), and here I used a VGA RJ45 extender: DVI to VGA cable into RJ45 extender, then from RJ45 extender using VGA to VGA cable into BV8 (I have the model with only 2 HDMI). Worked fine and pictures showed in full resolution, however, I disabled the sound, as I already had the BS5 in the kitchen with speakers connected.

Are you able to select music on the TV just as if there was no Beosound 5 as well as on the Beosound 5 itself?

If you have the BS5/BM5 combo connected to the BV, you only have with large coverart and basic functions on the BV like prev/next song, start/stop...unfortunately...!

If you connect just a BM5, it works like the BM1 (Beomedia 1) - with browsing the library and searching radio stations via BV screen.
