I recently acquired a set of penta 1 active loudspeakers, and they sound great, but the foam surrounds on all the 8 mid range drivers were old and rotted. I purchased the correct surrounds and painstakingly installed them, but there seems to be no mid range sound coming from either speaker, any ideas why that could be? I did check connections etc and bass and tweeters work awesome, seems strange only the mid bass drivers would be faulty, and they do move freely. Please any thoughts or suggestions would be great.
Had the same problem it was R1 on the crossover had unsoldered itself on both speakers!!! Signs they had been used as serious party speakers?!

OK so this is strange. Disassembled entire bottom of speaker, you all know the drill, and the cross over boards both looked amazing, perfect in fact. All solder joints looked like the first day they were made. I tested the speaker directly to see what was what and ALL drivers worked. Put everything back and in process tow of the wires for the display broke loose. So after repairing them and connecting everything again, they all work perfectly like new, and so does the other speaker which I never touched. Bizarre right!!!! I have no explanation as to why they didn't work prior since I never touched the one speaker but at this point just excited to have them working. Thanks for the R1 tip.
hmm black magic
glad you sorted it though!
