I'm thinking of getting a new TV for my bedroom. (currently I'm  using a wall mounted Beocentre  32 SD )

Id like the new tv to be SMART  and HD and was thinking  of the BeoPlay iv.....( i have the Beovision 11 46 in my sitting room with lab 5 and lab 8000's)

other option is maybe  to buy a  pre-owned Beovision 7-40, which is the tv I had before i got the Beovisin 11-46. However, the 7-40 is  not a smart TV, so its a bit of a compromise....

I am not a Gamer, so its more for TV  and music (streaming and from iTunes or directly from Beosound 9000 CD... )

I have 2 lab4000 in the bedroom, so i can add these for better  overall sound.

any ideas/comments on the Beoplay iv is  appreciated

You mean V1? I have one in my bedroom and it's awesome. You should prefer it over a 7-40 since the V1 is upgrade able over Internet, easy to add pucs to and several HDMI in. Plus it's easier on the eye. A 7-40 is thicker and a bit to much in a bedroom. It should not distract.

The speakers are good for a bedroom as well. I have the V1-40 in white and it's perfect!

Smart TVs are all internally redundant with the advent of devices like the new Amazon Fire Stick, or the new Apple. The latter will make more of an impact on the AV world, than all of Apples and everybody else's devices combined I believe.

Saying that, my £400 LG in our bedroom has a fairly slick interface for what it is. Light years ahead of what our Beovision 11 had.

With reference to the looks of a Beovision 7 compared to the V1, I'd just make up your own mindYes - thumbs up

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

V1 is simply great as a secondary TV. I love mine. Modern, all in Device ( use Deezer a lot) and good sound

Guys, thank you for your responses and i greatly appreciate it. i guess I'm veering towards the Beoplay v1 as you guys seem to be satisfied with it... i have one further question:

do i need to run wired internet to the bedroom for it or is it wifi enabled? id like to use it for spotify and apple tv in addition to normal Tv functions...

No you dont! V1 has built in ethernet but wifi as well. There is a small antenna-box that you can put either inside the V1 cabinet box or somewhere near the TV in case the signal is to weak otherwise.

Have a look here at my V1-setup: (The small black hexagon is the wifi antenna).

You are welcome but I don't understand what you mean by 200GB in relation to the connections :).

I should add that you need to have the antenna installed otherwise wifi won't work since there is no built-in antenna in the TV. I installed the antenna just because of precaution, in case my ethernet-cable breaks down.

Hi michael,

I mean i have 200gb Wifi in the house. i do run an ethernet cable from modem to my sitting room TV Beovision 11-46, but cos I'm only using a Beocentre in my bedroom I've never had a internet cable run upstairs.... however i do have Sky cable and masterlink in place , so i guess if i want 100% connections. best to run an ethernet and also use an antenna as u r doing...

Do you mean 200 mbit? I would also suggest ethernet cable for your TV since the wireless speed will be slower and the connection less stable depending on the distance. As you can see on my picture I have a split ethernet cable for both V1 and Apple TV in one since both units just have 100 mbit ethernet (which is sufficient for the units). so you can run two ethernet lines over one cable. If you want :).

MMs suggestion about homeplugs is not bad either but it might work bad on long or bad cables, especially over different fusing boxes. It might also work bad when there is a lot of interference on the electrical grid, as when a microwave oven is used for example.

I did not know you could do that !

Is it a simple Y split for each line/thread inside the cable ?

Or are you using separate lines within a fully populated cable ?

I hope that makes sense -- I am not sure it does to me and I'm the one asking the questions !

Well for 100mbit ethernet you just use two pairs of wires. For 1000 mbit you would use all four pairs.

What you do is to use two pairs for each of the devices and connect them accordingly. When the cables are made the right way you would end up with two ends in each end of the cable and each pair would be independent of each other. If you can terminate category 5/6 cables yourself then its easy to do. Otherwise you can buy splitters to do the same thing but they also take up some space.
