As we get closer to the 17th November and the launch of BeoLab 90, I wondered what would be the first track you would like to listen to? Assuming you live near to a showroom that will have them on display.

Mine would be Pink Floyd 'pulse' live recording!

Well... If I had this chance I would start with Young Souls from Broken Back.

But I also would like to see how they react with Silent Shout from The Knife ;-)

The jazz trio album by Mal Waldron "You And The Night And The Music," last track "Waltz For My Mother."

I'll be auditioning them at the factory in Struer on 12th November and giving a full 'BeoWorld Review'  

Not sure which CD I'll take though!

CD! What's that? I don't remember those that much. Take a K7 with you. Have they asked for CD's rather than that streaming mallarky? Enjoy the trip and I look forward to the review. Dave.

They haven't asked for anything actually.  I fully expect to be dragged by Geoff Martin into a room to hear a CD with some crackle over the top, to be told it's vinyl, me not get the joke, then look at me in disgust when I tell him I can't tell the difference between a lossless stream coming from an angels harp and audio cassette playing through an earthenware teapot...

Still, he's a very nice chap and I'm sure he'll be polite to me. I hope so anyway..

I never play cruel tricks like this on people - not even you, Lee...

I'll tell my mom you said I'm a "very nice chap" and that I am "polite" - she'll be very proud. ;-)

By the way: you don't have to bring a CD if you don't want to. I have one or two that we can use - and if we get bored, we can listen to this track, starring backup singer Cissy Houston (Whitney's mother) in a superhuman display of keeping-it-together-when-all-else-is collapsing-around-you.

The question is do Bang & Olufsen have a source past or present good enough to connect to such a great loudspeaker???

Here's some songs I would like to hear on the speakers. The songs are not in any particular order and I've selected pieces that I like from different genres (my taste is very, very wide), to test/hear different things in the speakers. Such as separation, clarity, depth, strength, precision and emotion.

I still haven't had the time to go for a visit to the factory but I hope to do so sometime soon.

I hope someone will find use of this list, no matter which Beolabs are used to play them back.

The reissue of the BAM revival performance from 1984 is just so raw, I'd love to hear how it sounds from the BL90 speakers.

Incidentally, I saw PG and Kronos perform live to the film Dracula just last week here in Los Angeles. Wonderful to see him still at it. Michael Riesman was on keyboards and conducting as well. And my wife and I have seen Koyaanisqatsi a few times live, as well as Einstein a few times live. Lucky us! :-)

I listen to BeoLab 5 every day (I have them at home) so I'm really looking forward to judging the improvements upon them in the BeoLab 90 !!

I thought they were the 'new 8000's' - which would turn out to be BeoLab 18's.

However, Peter noticed the acoustic curtains swaying in the breeze made by whatever was behind so knew they were something large.

Geoff then realised I was deaf and did a bit of sign language at me.. whatever 'V' means, I'm not sure.

Canada (or, more precisely, Newfoundland) has not been part of the colonies for quite some time. Although "two-fingered salute" however, was certainly used in England long before we broke ranks (compare the dates on the bottom of this page with those on this page), it has not been part of the Newfoundland lingua franca, for at least the past 46 years.

Translation: regarding my sign language: you must be mistaking me for someone else.

As to your hearing abilities: no comment - but maybe we can chat about this during your visit next week. ;-)

If I could, I would certainly listen to "Oscar Peterson - You look good to me", a beautiful piece combining slow and fast parts, with deep bass (played with and without a bow) and a dancing piano stream. From then on, it would surely be an endless day/week/month/year/life of re-discovering my favorite tracks, from Mahler - directed by Bruno Walter to Philip Glass - Songs from liquid days ... Hope those who will attend the maiden concert will enjoy it.

I do hope you have a great time - sorry not to be meeting you again Geoff. I would have compared family trees - I have seen you did a bit of genealogy. I did the one for our family reunion in New Zealand last year (Lee will not be surprised to here that I was too busy to attend!) and at 12 point print, it was over a metre high and 31 feet wide. They had a village hall used for the reunion and it wrapped around the inside nicely! No B&O though! (Plenty of sheep I dare say so slightly reminiscent of the Farm - dash it, you have discovered the secret training ground for our spy sheep!)

Why has ALT gone now? It seemed quite a clever idea.
