I have the BeoSound Essence MK2 since the very beginning (August this year). Mainly used for Radio (TuneIn) and Spotify. My iTunes library is still on a MacMini which is connected via Cambridge DAC and connected via Line-In.

A few weeks ago I bought a Sinology Discstation DS213+ based on the DSM 5.2. I have copied my music to the Folder „music“.

In the BeoMusic app the content is visible but I’m not able to choose any track (greyed out - please see picture)

Do I have to switch on / install a special tool on the NAS drive?

Please share your thoughts and opinions

For me the frayed out tracks means either:

1) they are not on my iDevice, but their metadata is -- I resolve this by flicking a switch in Apple Music to only show local files

2) they are tracks that I am accessing via an Apple Music subscription, not iTunes purchases nor CD rips -- solution is to wait for B&O and Apple to hold hands at the altar

Does the above help you isolate your situation ?

Hi Elephant

Thanks for your answer.

Agree - Had the same behavior when tried to play Songs from my iDevice (Music is in the cloud / iTunes Match)

BUT the greyed out songs I mentioned in my post are localy stored on the NAS drive and not accessible.

I have this problem occasionally with my new Beoplay A6. Mostly cured by going out from app and in again. Have you sent your screenshot and explained the case to bogo@mailgb.custhelp.com ?

It's been known that synology NAS are not compatible however bo do their test using qnap much more reliable

I use a basic buffalo link station NAS and they work great with my itunes

Dear all,

Will ask B&O support and wait for their feedback. Worst case I have to change my NAS.

Which is strange again, since the Synology NAS works fine with the Avant.

It would help is B&O starts standardizing their networking software packages across their portfolio so things work more consistently.

Hello,

I encountered the same issue with my BeoSound Essence MK II and a BeoPlay A9 MK II. The Essence is playing all files from the Synology NAS, the A9 not – files are greyed out.

My understanding was, that the Synology NAS is not fully supported an may have some problems, BUT the files hosted on my BeoSound 5 are also greyed out on the A9 (which I assume has nothing to do with the incompatibility of the Synology NAS ;-).

Any Ideas?

My workaround is, to start the music on the Essence an “join” the A9 (multiroom), which has not the women acceptance factor as you might understand.

Best regards

This has worked for some people:  login to tunein or deezer and start one of the two. Thereafter you will have access to your server.

Hi vlohjr1,

what incompatibility do you experience with Synology NASes? I am using a Synology NAS without any trouble.
