Hi  Beoworlders,

I plan to replace my Playmaker/iPad combo by a Moment and NL/ML converter.

My music is stored in a Synoloy NAS, which works fine and fulfill it's missions flawless.

So I do not see a reason to change it.

BUT...

Reading previous threads, it seems that Moment and Synology are not happy together.

And Twonky Server is not supported by Synology.

Has the situation changed with the last updates?

What problems encounter Synology users with Moment?

Thanks or your feedback,

Yann.

Hi Yann

I do not have an answer for you but would be happy to assist if you live anywhere near Ealing, West London. We could hook the Synology up to our network and find out Wink. I know someone that's used one before alongside an Encore and this worked seamlessly.

Regards

Stuart

Thank you  for your help, Stuart.

As I live in France, I'll have to set-up the system by myself.

Kind regards,

Yann.

I cannot help you Chris, but I feel the same : even if the Moment was a true masterpiece, I would not replace my Synology with anything else !

I'm hoping that the Moment can now work seamlessly with Sinology disk station.

I can give you a bit of hope : even if the Moment has troubles to work with the DS Media server, it can maybe works with the Synology iTunes server, which emulates a iTunes library, even if your NAS is filled with FLAC files... (if I remember correctly the Moment is said to work with an iTunes library)

I have a Synology NAS and a Beosound Moment.

I run Twonky on my iMac, serving the NAS music catalogue to the Moment.

I have the music catalogue from the NAS mounted on the iMac, and setup so that when the iMac restarts its automatically mounts the musik catalogue so that Twonky can find it..

Works well.

Hi Yann,

Same issue here! The Essence MK2 is not happy with the Synology NAS, you can read details in my post from a few days ago.

After feedback from Beo Care and I can report that for example QNAP should solve the issue. It's a pain! The B&O systems can ONLY handle Twonky server and not any DLNA server in general (e.g. Media Server from Synology)

Depending on your Synology model (Processor) but maybe you can install Twonky on it - check google

Good luck

I replaced my "old" Synology with a QNAP that I dedicated to multimedia services while keeping the Synology for my web services, mail server, Time machine and other file services.

I went to QNAP for its different services, including the HDMI output, and also because it is referenced by B&O (it is used in their labs) and has the Twonky service.

Synology and the Moment are not so good friends if you need more than listening music like cover management and fast database built.

That said, the Moment had so many issues prior the latest update that it would not be fair to finger point Synology.

I'm satisfied now with my setup and the Moment integration was an important criteria in my vendor selection.

Hi Hiort, I'm thinking of purchasing a Synology to replace a Drobo S which I've used for many many years without any problems as storage. I wanted to resurrect this thread and ask if you are continuing to use your Synology as you have stated above, and if there have been any hiccups or pitfalls in your experience to date.

Thanks!
