I know that spares from dealers can be expensive and most often you need to take your equipment in for a quote and service etc... but come on, simple things, why have B&O stopped selling us replacement parts? Some good explanations though. For example, new drive units for Beolab 6000s, that they need to be installed by the service centre due to them needing to put the replacement units into the correct 'phase' ? BTW, does anyone have any spare Perspex covers for the Penta 3 display panels (black). Any old Beovox Penta version would also suffice. I got a set of these from my dealer about 2 years ago to replace some scratched / cracked ones. Now I'm told they don't supply them anymore. Any spares happy to make a sensible offer. Need 2 if you have any? Thanks. Jack.
Rally? Stop also in other countries? Can anyone report? This would not be "collectors friendly"!
In case of the driver units: these are tested and the amplification has to be adjusted, according to the specs they deliver with them. So you should know, what you are doing. But all the other simple things,I agree!
This is not the case. I can supply any available spare parts. Yes, genuine spares aren't cheap, but neither are the products....
I don't know where you were told that spare parts are not for sale, unless it was a simple case of the parts in question being discontinued?
Give me the required part numbers and I will check availability for you 😀
Best,
Nick

It has been so for a while - but there are probably ways to 'find a way' with this ;-)

Sometimes dealers make their own silly decisions. Many many years ago I was the proud owner of a 1203 Beogram. I went to a dealer (actually a department store) for a new belt and they insisted that I should pay for a call- out. As I already had the old belt in my hand I eventually convinced the salesman that this was inappropriate and that this was a 2 minute job for the owner.

w5bno123:All spare parts starting with an 8 are restricted to service agents only, B1 dealers can no longer order these. Stuart

Hi Stuart,
Yeah, Matt @ Exeter warned me earlier in the year that this policy was on it's way. It's a shame as we have even fewer options down this neck of the woods than you do in the South East, and I always preferred to order through the dealer and collect a couple of days later rather than waiting in for a courier (with the added benefit of not having to deal with items lost or damaged in transit).
Martin.
w5bno123:Hi Martin I believe that Paul Davey who's based near you has to order his spare parts from BeoService. I understand that B&O are trying to streamline the service side of the business and ensure that parts are fitted properly. We've seen some bodge jobs by dealers that are thankfully no longer dealers, but this has taken away another revenue stream for the small dealer that is capable of doing frontline repairs and ensuring that it is a swift process Stuart
I ordered some bass drivers for Lab 8000 recently - sure it was an 8 part number, but I also have a service engineer on the books

Yeah, I do know Paul (although not very well) - he's carried out work on some of my equipment in the past and we've both been involved in the same projects at times so our paths have crossed on more than one occasion. He's a nice guy.

I can understand the thinking behind this (although I think it is flawed). Are they also imposing restrictions on the service centres as to who they can supply these parts to, or is it just going to be a case of people ordering from a service centre rather than their local dealer?
The problem I see is that very quickly you end up in a situation not dissimilar to how the automotive industry was operating with regard to parts and technical documentation some years ago, and it took EU legislation to sort that mess out and allow independent garages to operate on a reasonably level playing field again.
I don't begrudge paying a service technician to fix a problem when it's appropriate, but there are many instances, particularly with older equipment (even where parts are still available) where many of the current technicians lack the skills required to carry out repairs at a component level, or where it is simply not cost effective to go down this route.
Well I started this thread a few weeks ago in the hope of finding an answer so from the various replies, a few from dealers it would seem, then looks like B&O have decided that they want more of their classic systems to end up in 'Land-fill' which I would say doesn't look like a very good sustainability or 'green' policy. Maybe it is a safety issue which is fine. But I only service repair the easy stuff, belts, laser units, speaker (dreaded foams) etc. All I'm looking for right now is any spare or new black plastic display covers for Penta 3s or PentaVox. Has anyone got a scrap pair of Pentas I could use / purchase. Jack.
