The doors of my more than 20 year old Beosystem seems too sensitive. They open even when there is no hand in the neighborhood. I noticed with my camera that one of the IR LEDs don't produce as much light as the others. Maybe after 20 years they need replacement? Or are there other components to consider?
You are right. Years ago, they sold a replacement set. But I don't know, if they still can provide them. You will need LED's with a certain wavelength and intensity.
According to the service manual they should be 880 nanometer wavelength. I do not know the opening angle, the brightness or if and how they should be aligned. They are glued inside a holder that snaps in the chassis. I ordered four general purpose 880nm IR LED's with an opening angle of 30 degrees and I will see what happens.
I have replaced the IR LED's, now they all blink with the same intensity. The doors open and the lights go on if you approach them with your hand as expected.
But unfortunately they also open uncontrolled (and the lights go on). I noticed that external components like connecting the Beosound 6000 or the cable distribution system have a negative influence on this strange behaviour. Does anybody have an idea?

Has anyone ever figured this out? I have the exact same problem. The doors just open by themselves whenever they feel like it. Very frustrating as I keep the unit turned off via a power strip when not in use.

Well, I fixed my 2500. It was far too sensitive. The "fix" was to darken the emitter LED's. It is now less sensitive and no longer opens and closes by itself. I simply covered 2 of the emitter LED's with black tape and put the covers back on. Yes, my unit still responds to my hand, but it no longer scares the Cat half to death when it walks by. Interesting find, but hey it works, so I'll leave it alone.
