Hello,

I have acquired this beautiful system which worked perfectly for a few weeks.

Now it keeps getting stuck, not loading cd's etc.

Had the lens cleaned and it works all day long at the workshop. As soon as I get it home it stops working again. Could it be the electrics at my house?

Can anyone help please?

I had a similar problem, acquired my ouverture some weeks ago, set it up on the breakfast bar and it worked perfectly for days

i then moved it to its permanent home and had the same symptoms as you, whilst looking at other ouvertures on the web I noticed that my lens was at the bottom of the track that it moves up and down in unlike all the other photos I had viewed

i mentioned this to Ipaul who I purchased it from and he agreed it looked wrong and suggested I give it a little help with a toothpick to move itself whilst pressing play and low and behold it moved up the track and returned to the top ready for the next CD

it has got itself stuck once or twice since but is easily cured and I play CDs in random order to keep the movement of the lens free

Forgot to add, check the position of the lens and if it is at the bottom give it a little help whilst pressing play, might be a similar problem to mine caused by lack of use for some time

Hi Lesley

Are the same or different CDs being using in the workshop versus at home? Some discs are more difficult for the laser to focus on and track than others. If the laser or it's associated components and mechanics are failing then these kind of symptoms can be experienced on some discs whilst others play without issue.

Sometimes it's the mechanical parts of the laser mechanism that need cleaning up, sometimes there are capacitors that need replacing, and sometimes it is easier to simply replace the entire laser module when other attempts at repair do not successfully resolve the fault.

The electrics at your house are unlikely to be the culprit, although I suppose variations in mains voltage at different locations (which are normal and depend on, amongst other things, how far away from the local transformer you are) *may* have an influence on how apparent a fault is and therefore how frequently you experience symptoms.

Kind Regards,

Martin.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. Rushed home to try this but it appears to be in the highest position possible.

Read somewhere to try a hair dryer in case of humidity??

Hello Martin,

Yes took several cd's to play at workshop to no avail as they played there but not at home.

Baffling and frustrating.

I live in the Algarve and there are no B+O specialist shops here. Nearest is Lisbon which is nearly 3 hours drive away!

It can be the power qualitiy of your house/town.

Measure what voltage the workshop has, compared to your house.

If the capacitors in the power supply have a problem with aging, the lower voltage will cause problems.

The Overture is also vulnerable with telephone radiation. It does not like smartphones....
