Hi all, I just bought a BLGW for a good price on eBay; I read what documentation I can find and had a little play with it this evening and very happy with it. I've sussed out some basic functionality already and I'm looking forward to connecting it to my lintronic boxes ( as per this app note http://lintronic.dk/AppNote_MasterLinkGateway.pdf). Programming seems reasonably straightforward. I am confident I can control most of my home automation system which is x10 and insteon based with this setup using custom strings and macros on the RS232 port, but I was wondering if anyone has experience with insteon and MLGW before I get started? Is it possible to use html messaging to the insteon hub directly?
I also have a bunch of 'insteon' (really foscam) ip cameras that I'll be trying to integrate: apparently the MLGW/BeoLink app can support cameras? Any tips?
i also have some link rooms that are MCL based with the 1611 converter providing a masterlink interface - I see the documentation shows the 1611 as basically unsupported by the MLGW but I wonder if anyone has tried this out and if there is any functionality at all?

Hello again all, happy to report I have my ip cameras working, and basic beolink functionality with my Beocenter 6. I do however have a question about custom strings. I'm trying to setup control of insteon/x10 using html messaging. I can do this from my web browser, but I'm struggling to figure out the correct syntax in the MLGW custom strings tab.
The insteon hub is located at 192.168.1.88 on port 25105 and I've entered that in the relevant boxes. The issue is that I need to provide a username and password via basic authentication. From my browser I'd just use
http://username:password@192.168.1.88:25105/payload
I'm entering my payload info into the command string box using "POST payload HTTP/1.1\0A\0A" but I'm unclear on how to provide the authentication data. I'm sure this is a very naive question but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Seanie, I'm using Foscam cameras - the same ones as marketed as Insteon cameras, although mine are the slightly higher resolution ones; I forget the model number but I think all the Foscam cameras work the same. They are very good value for money I'd say. Are you thinking of getting some? I can confirm they work happily with the MLGW, but I've yet to add custom buttons for the pan and tilt controls.

Just replace IPADDRESS and PORT with appropriate values as per your setup
Hi there, sorry for a slow reply - my cameras are F18910w models, but I'm pretty sure there will be better/higher res versions now; you may want to check what the latest version in this line is. I think they are very good value. All the best
