Hi everyone. I just snagged an RX 2 at the flea-market, and the motor needs serviced. I downloaded the service manual, and it shows inserting two thin pieces of something, about 5cm back to release the "catches". But its not really clear what you do. Do I push inwards, towards the platter, or pry up, or what? Can anyone give me some tips on how to do this? I really don't want to mess this beauty up.
Thanks all;
Artie
Did a little closer examination and realized that you must remove two screws from underneath. The service manual must be from an older model or something.
But here's the really good news . . . bouncing around underneath the cover, was the MMC-5 cartridge. The needle probably isn't in too good of shape, but having it is better than nothing.
Nice find. Did you know that all these cartridges are identical internally so Axel could put a new stylus on this an turn it into a MMC2 or similar.

Hey Pete; In the short time that I've been a member here, I've seen references to Axel several times. Do you have a link, or email addy?
Thanks;
Edit: Nevermind . . . I found him. http://www.schallplattennadeln.de/
I was going to point you to this article. - http://www.beoworld.org/article_view.asp?id=203
I have had a nuber of cartridges modified by Axel and am impressed by his excellent work and speed of turn around. I do also have a Soundsmith cartridge, which seems to cater for a more modern interpretation of the B&O sound.
Great article. Thanks Peter.
