Hi, I am hoping you can help.  I have beolabs 17 connected to a transmitter1 and have used the ir receiver with my old Sony tv.  That worked fine.  Now I have changed to a LG oled 920 and it does not work. I can see a red light on the receiver so it gets a signal but the sound does not change.  I would rather not have to keep the sony remote just to change the volume.  Help would be apreciated.

How is your LG connected to the Transmitter 1 (and how was the Sony)?

What do you mean by 'used the ir receiver..'?

Lg is connected via opical out and the sound does come thru I just cannot control the volume.  The Sony was connected the same way but the Ir receiver that is connected to the Transmitter could understand the Sony remote and adjust the volume.

The Transmitter 1 has no ir receiver (input).

Are you sure, you don't mean the Connection Hub, (that was intended for the S8-set)?

There is nothing in the user guide, that indicates, that the usb connection can be used that way.

HOWEVER, I found this post - May 2014 - from BeoMegaMan here:

ttp://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/10205/91677.aspx

It seems, that you are right - which is pretty cool!

Could it be, that the RCV3000 is paired with the Sony remote and has to be unpaired first.

Would you describe, what you did in order to get it working with the Sony?

is there some sort of user guide for rhe RCV3000?

MM

'RCV3000 makes it possible to connect a Samsung, LG or Sony TV to the BeoLab Transmitter 1 while still using the TV’s own remote to control the volume level.
The TV can be connected to the BeoLab Transmitter 1 via TOSLINK or fixed line-out.

Features:

  ·
RCV3000 is connected directly to the BeoLab Transmitter 1 via the included USB cable
  ·
RCV3000 captures IR signals from the latest generation of Samsung, LG and Sony remote controls
  ·
RCV3000 passes volume up / volume down / mute / unmute commands on to BeoLab Transmitter 1

Please see a list of remote controls tested with RCV3000 on BeoLab Transmitter 1 below.

For your reference and inspiration, we have during the development tested the functionality on the following TVs and their remote controls. Please note we have no plans to extend compatibility with other brands than LG, Sony and Samsung for now.

Do any soud come out og the beolab 17?

I know that there is at least one IR coding style it's not able to decode. Maybe thats the problem.

I really did not have to do anything for the Sony remote to work.  Just plugged it in and vola.  Wondering if it needs to be unpaired and how that is done.  There was no manual with the ir receiver.

And I should mention that it is a lovely TV. It does not have the overall experience of the Avant but that was out of my budget, and I think the picture quality is at least as good.

if anyone is interested I have received an answer from Beocare.

Thank you for contacting Bang & Olufsen Customer Service regarding your BeoLab 17 and BeoLab Transmitter 1.

I am, unfortunately, no expert in third party TVs, but as far as I was able to investigate, the remote control supplied with this TV appears not to send IR-commands, but RF-commands instead. The RCV3000 receiver is compatible with IR only.
I do not know whether you are able to re-configure the remote or whether it is possible to change a setting in the TV so that it receives IR instead of RF.

Alternatively, it might be possible using a different IR remote from LG. LG may be able to help you further.

Perhabs they should change what it says on their homepage about the Ir receiver working with newer LG, Sony an Samsung TV,

Ok, if anyone is interested, I have now bought a cambridge audio CXU universal player.  It has variable volume out.  Now I connect all sound from the TV thru the player.  I use HDMI ARC.  The player is connectec with analog rca cables to the transmitter.  Its a wonderful but pricey player.  It also has 7.1 preout if anyone would like to use it with beolab 14. The essence is also connected to the transmitter.

The Transmitter 1 can indeed control volume from IR devices listed from the above table. As long as the 3rd party doesn't change their command profile it should work with more modern TV's as well. Keep in mind the Transmitter 1 was released sometime ago and doesn't have the ability to be upgraded with newer IR profiles as they become available. If your product isn't support by Transmitter 1 then simply add the S8 connection hub and you are now back in business by having the hub learn virtually any IR command to control volume variably in conjunction with Transmitter 1.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
