Hi all,

Just picked up a lovely rosewood Begram 4002 (Type 5525) from a charming old couple. I've cleaned an lubricated it but it's doing an odd thing whereby it starts to move the tonearm before activating the solenoid when pressing 'end'.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Do you have the service manual? On mine, one crucial adjustment that cleared this problem out is mentionned in point 3-2 "adjustment of magnet coil system". Basically, the metal arm "A" under the solenoid has to be perfectly perpendicular with it when pulled down. A slight angle in the arm, thus in the pin going in the solenoid might retain the tonearm to be released for a random period of time.

Thanks Guillaume - I did remove the solenoid and damper to lubricate it so will go back and check this!
