Hi everybody,
This unit is equipped with CDPRO2 mech. when I insert CD unit closes the clamp CD doesn't start to spin after couple of seconds display says load CD. So I think its some kind of focus problem. I have tested both motors they are working ok and cleaned the lens. Trough camera lens I can see visible laser so its not completely dead. Yesterday I changed all the SMD caps but this didn't fix the problem. If I remember right I have read somewhere that these mechs can suffer some diode problem.
If someone has any ideas I would appreciate them.
Best Regards,
Pete
Unfortunately I discovered the same problem with my Beosound 3000 CD Player.
Are there any hints / recommendation how to repair it?
This is a common fault, and I have fixed 2 of these 3000 units. The fix in both cases was a new laser, no caps or other things solved the problem.
Unfortunatelly, the lasers for the CDPRO2 mecs, are more expensive and more hard to find, than then CDM12.4 lasers for the 2300/2500 units. But there are sites in the china region(and other countries) that sells these lasers.
But, what I actually did, and lucky me, I found some old cd units for a BS9000, with working lasers, and these lasers also work in the BS3000/CDPRO2.
The unit from BS9000 is VAM1250, and the CDPRO2 is VAM1255, but both units use the same laser which is labeled "F8<>2" on on the connecter end of the ribbon-cable.
The laser unit that "will work" are these. But since the stuff bought from these sites can vary in quality, I CANNOT GUARANTEE that this laser works, or even is the one the they ship.

But the laser I found in the BS9000 units, is excactly the same as the image from the site above, and this made my units work again..

Great, thank you very much.
Next week-end I will open my Beosound 3000 to remove the laser unit.
Did changing the laser fix your problem?
Replacing the laser will always solve the problem for some time. 99% will work again... for some days, months, maybe a year.
Of course also laser die...
But when in the Environment of the laser is a problem with power supplies or a defect in the regulation Loop of the laser power, then it will be killed again after some time.
First check all caps, then replace the laser. There is a reason that causes the problem, otherwise you just cure the symptom... and just for some time.
