Hey everyone Im new to both the forum, as well as B&O products so please forgive me if I sound noobish.
Today I picked up a 5500 Beocord someone was selling for $20CAD for parts or repair only of course. I brought it home and sure enough to my surprise there was some sorta life in it!
When I plugged it in I heard some spinning noises like a motor was turning, upon further investigation, it was the motor for the cassettes arms (I think thats what they're called? Please correct me if im wrong) it spins for a little bit and then shuts off. No sign of life when I press the buttons and nothing comes up on the display. if anyone has any ideas or suggests please feel real to let me know!
My Beocord 5500 does the same thing. I was told by a B&O repair facility that it was probably worn or broken belts.
Can you manually pull the carriage our? If not, then I would suspect that something is jammed in the tape carriage and you may have to take the cover off the unit to see inside.
I can manually pull the carriage out. I did take off the top cover and discovered that there was a capacitor that had come lose. I resoldered it but I still have the same issue, I also checked the belts and they seem to be in working order
