Hi all
I see the rubber surrounds on the woofers of the Beolab 6000 are constructed from very thin rubber which provides a high degree of compliance to assist bass reproduction.
I have read that the foam and some rubber replacement surrounds impact on the original response from these drivers and suppress their bass output. I wonder if anyone has installed the rubber surrounds from AudioFriends which are advertised as having been manufactured specifically for these drivers. Can anyone comment on how these surrounds perform in comparison to the original surrounds?
Thanks!
These surrounds perform better than the originals in my opinion. The woofers are able to give more bass. The rubber surrounds Audio Friends are different in comparison with the original. More flexible. They fit perfectly.
The respons isn't probably to the original specs, but after having fitted 200+ surrounds, the common comments are very positive.
That's great to hear - thanks Beobuddy
Don't fit them like some bloke did.
And if you don't dare to glue, then this might be an option:
Oh my goodness - that's hilarious!
What on earth did they use to 'glue' the first lot - it look like tar!
Hi
I need to fix my beolab 6000 woofer, but I do not dare gluing. There is any shop to which I could refer in Germany or Europe ( I am able to dismantle the loudspeaker)

Alfio
You can send them over, no problem.
Send me a pm.
Just in case anyone is reading this, I just redid the rubber on my beolab 6000 if you take your time it is an easy diy job.I bought a kit off of ebay from a guy in Holland. Comes with 4 rubber surrounds and the glue, you just need patience and in my opinion the results were great. Deeper bass respnse very happy with the results. You can find a video on youtube how to do it.

Someone read it;
Good evening,
Maybe interesting: I'm collecting (also from other people / manufacturers) manuals for a good sight for everyone how to repair a foam or rubber surround witch is decayed. If you have a suggestion for a good manual from others I’m very interested. For instance the trick witch a 35 – 40 Hertz test signal. It's just a simple site. (www.refoam.info)
Thanks in advance, Fred
I have purchased many repair kits from AudioFriends over the years and I can say from experience that the surrounds are of high quality and fit perfectly. They provide good instructions and a complete kit (is available as an option that included glue). The repair does take some time and requires a little patience but is not difficult, at least for the 4 inch drivers in the BL3500/BL6000 or the CX50/100s. I can say that AudioFriends is a highly recommended source for repairing at a minimum these drivers, and I would imagine that they cover the other larger drivers just as well, although those repairs are a bit more involved.
