Is it possible to hook one up to a Masterlink system?   Or use it with additional passive amplifiers or additional active speakers?   I am willing to use a converter if that is possible.    I recently picked one up for a great price and would love to integrate it into my existing system!

Thanks

HI

I'm amazed nobody has came back to help you with this - it's normally an extremely helpful forum with quick answers to queries like this - I was just about to post a query myself when I saw yours. I'm afraid I can't personally help you with most of your questions as I'm a complete muppet when it comes to connections....

I'm a big fan of the 2300 - I have 2. I can you tell you that it's very easy to connect to an amplifier you just need a lead with 2 phono plugs to connect to you amp and an 8 pin DIN plug to connect to you aux socket of the 2300. I had mine connected to a Quad 405-2 and a pair of MS150 for years and it sounded fantastic.

I'm sure somebody will be along shortly to answer you master link / additional speakers questions

Cheers

Nigel

Hi Striker

striker27:
Is it possible to hook one up to a Masterlink system?

Yes, you'd need a beolink converter to do this. Do you already have some other B&O equipment in a masterlink setup? If so which equipment and would you be looking to add the 2300 in a separate room or in the same room as something existing?

striker27:
Or use it with additional passive amplifiers or additional active speakers?

You mention "additional" speakers so does this mean you currently have speakers connected? perhaps the beolab 2500s that attach directly to each side?

You can connect any B&O active speakers directly to the powerlink output, or connect passive speakers with the addition of a 'Beolink Passive' amplifier box.

The above should give you a general idea of what the possibilities are, but if you can provide some more details of your existing system we can probably tailor the advice a offer some more specific suggestions.

Hope this helps...

Kind Regards,
Martin.

Sorry I should have been clearer.  At present I have a Beosound Overture 4000 with the two 2500 Beolab speakers.  This is connected to two Passive Amps I believe they are 1658's which work off the B&O IR pucks in two separate zones through master link. I also have a Beolab 3500 in a bed room as well as a Beolab 2000 also connected through master link in the system.  I would like to replace the Overture with the Beocenter 2300....  The Beocenter 2300 also has the 2500 Beolab speakers all connected on the handy little wall mount.

Reason I want to replace my Overture 4000 with the BeoCenter 2300 is fairly simple I would like to have a newer looking unit with out the tape deck.  I have no tapes....   The Beocenter 2300 fits that bill.

I would also like to control the system as I do now. Press a remote or IR puck and things turn on....   Is this possible to do?

Thanks  GUYS!!!

Yep, the BC2300 plus a beolink converter will work fine for this.

Depending on your location, you'll need the 1611 (European spec) or 1612 (US/Canadian spec) converter for this - the older 1614 converter will not work as an audio master without a ML video master also being present in the main room (because it is not capable of driving the ML bus on its own).

Kind Regards,

Martin.

At present I do have a 1612 on hand....   I am just wondering what is the easiest way to hook it up?  Would I need a cable from the Beocenter's AUX port to the AUX port on the 1612?   Or does the Powerlink  port on the 1612 come into play???

THANKS

No need to connect the powerlink port in your intended setup. You just need a cable between the aux ports of the BC2300 and the beolink converter, then plug your masterlink into the converter.

It's just a standard datalink cable. they are 7 pin din plug at each end and wired pin 1 to pin1, pin 2 to pin2 etc, and I'm guessing with each audio signal screened separately (but it's been a long time since I've examined one that closely).

You could obtain the cable from sounds heavenly or from your B&O dealer.

Kind Regards,

Martin.

Hi,

If you still want to use the AUX Port on the BC2300 with the Konverter, you would need a Y-cable additionally. I have an Apple Airport and ML Conveter connected to my BC2300.

Cheers,
