Hello!
This is the first time I have posted here, looking for some advice. It will be greatly appreciated!
I have inherited a pair of mark one (I think!) pentas. They are great condition apart from foam rot. I intend to repair the rot myself then use the speakers.
My question really is this. How do I use them!? I'd love to play music from Spotify on my pc or I would be willing to buy a sonos connect or a reasonably priced amp.
Do the speakers need an amp, I think they have one build in. How would I connect cables to them? Old fashioned bare speaker wire?
Any advice really would be great
Thanks all
Hi,
portablebadger:Do the speakers need an amp, I think they have one build in.
This is the first thing we need to determine as it will have a bearing on the advice given.
Which of these do you have?
Kind Regards,
Martin.
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the response!
I have the ones on the left.
Chris
Any more help would be greatly appreciated!
You can connect whatever you want, they have line in.
I would suggest a Chromecast audio.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
Thanks leosgonewild.
I had no idea chromecast audio existed. After a bit of research I don't think they would work alone. They have a single 3.5mm output. I guess I would need to plug one in to a preamp and power the pentas from that.
Thanks for the help, I didn't even know what a preamp was until researching this!
You can play from your head phone socket if you want.
Peter
What do you mean Peter?
Hi again Leosgonewild, thanks for the help.
Im a bit confused, would I have a splitter coming out of the chromecast to spilt to left and right channel, then another splitter on each cable to plug it in to the penta Base?
Thanks
Thanks leosgonewild much appreciated
Hi guys,
I recently started a thread to discuss my next issue with these speakers. If you'd like to continue helping a noob please have a look at my other post.
Thanks,
