The CD player does not register any tracks on a CD after track 9. Anybody else had this problem. The only repair centre in Thailand is 400 miles away so I need to be sure I cannot fix myself before a trip to Bangkok . Cheers Peter
Hi Peter.
Which product are you having this problem with?
Kind Regards,
Martin.
Hi Martin
its a Beosound 3200 v- had it over 10 years - first problem I have even encountered.
Peter
Hi Peter,
Is it always after track 9, or does this vary between CDs?
hint: try a CD with many short tracks, versus one with fewer long tracks if possible - the aim is to determine whether it is definitely failing after a certain track number, or is failing after a particular physical position as the laser tracks across the surface of the CD.
Also, can you provide more details of what is happening when you play a CD? Does it play from track 1 through to the end of track 9 and then just stop, or some other issue?
Martin
All CDs show tracks 1-9 on screen irrespective of how many tracks are on the CD
i.e a CD with just 3 tracks still shows 1-9 - clicking onto track 4 to 9 would just play track 3.
a CD with over 9 tracks just shows 1-9 - selecting a track number greater than 9 to play does not register, and track 9 would play.

Hi Peter, I presume you are in either Chiangmai Mai or Phuket, I myself am in Pattaya, make sure you speak with them in Bangkok to ensure they can fix it before going such a long way
hopefully you can get the help needed from the forum so good luck
Cheers thsnks got that. I am in Chiang mai. Going to UK for a few months in Jan so will take it with me the day before and deposit it with the shop in Paragon. Will email them with problem first sure.

That is certainly an unusual fault and not one I have encountered before. I will have a look at the service manual over the coming days and see whether there is anything there that might give any clues as to a possible cause.
My suspicion would be that the BS3200 reads the Table of Contents from the lead-in data of the CD and stores this somewhere (maybe in EEPROM) and perhaps is now failing to do so properly (and then reads back a value of '9', that being the last value that was successfully stored during previous playback of another CD), but this is purely a guess as this stage.
The issue you are likely to have is that any repair will in all likelihood involve replacement of entire modules and these modules plus labour may end up costing more than the current used value of a working BS3200.
I will see if I can find some appropriate test modes that I can talk you through so we are perhaps at least able to narrow down the cause a little further.
Thankyou Martin for your response. i was also concerned that I may well need to replace the module, or even invest in a new model. Would you happen to know if a new module would be compatable with my Beolab4000 speakers.
Many thanks again
