My Beosound 3000 has suddenly stopped accepting CDS. When I load a CD and press "play" the CD does not spin and it tells me to "Load CD".
I have tried disconnecting all leads for a while and then reconnecting with the same result. Has anyone experienced a problem like this or have any suggestions before I call an engineer out?
Thank you
You can try cleaning the laser lens. If its too dirty it will do exactly what you describe.
If you are unlucky, your CD mechanism is be dead and will have to be replaced.

It's probably not the CD mechanism (but that's what a B&O dealer would tell you -because they can/will only change modules).
More often it's some components (caps) that need to be changed. But these models have lots of SMD's -so it's not for the amateur to change components. You'll need to find a repair shop that can actually repair things -or maybe someone here on Beoworld can help you, depending on where you live.
Thanks for the feedback I was coming to the conclusion that it was a fault with the mechanism then I tried playing an auxiliary input through my Beosound 3000. It worked perfectly for 3 or 4 minutes then stopped and went into standby. I hit the Aux option on my remote control and got another 3 or 4 minutes of music before the same thing happened again.
I would conclude from this that I either have two problems or one problem that is not related to the CD mechanism
Anyone got any thoughts on this thank you
According to your description, I had the same symptoms on my BS 3000 some years ago. The system was only three years old so I took it to my dealer. After checking the system he told me that the laser unit needed to be replaced. I urged the dealer to do it on goodwill and after some discussions we agreed that the work had to be paid by me and the unit was on goodwill.
I think you most probably have to call a B & O service station. My case has been 5 years ago, so the pricing probably increased, but the labor value (time) remained most likely. The unit price I cannot tell. If you are interested, I can PM you the invoice with the respective data.
Another thread about a BS 9000 malfunction started here. The laser unit may be the same or close to a BS 3000, so if interested, you could probably get a cost assessment up front.

Rolf
Hi, dont want to highjack thread, but I am having similar problems and was about to post same question. Machine powers up and loads CD, spins for a couple of seconds then stops, makes a slight noise for a second like it is trying to start but nothing. Screen doesnt say anything except CD. Then you cant get CD out, load function wont work, unless you turn machine off and on again????? Unit has been repaired some years ago for similar reason, pre me as the owner, not sure what the verdict was. Guess its ££££ to repair? rather than a £1 CD lens cleaner....?
