Merry Christmas

What options are there to have speakers work with system wirelessly? Does it work without sound degradation?

My Beosound 9000 while cool looking is old tech.  How can i add a way to link digital music from laptops, iPad etc.?

many thanks for any suggestions.

1: use the (B&O) Transmitter1/Receiver1 combination - works with the WiSA technology and is lossless.

(Do you intend to have the BL5's and the BL3 playing all along?).

2: connect an BS Essence (hideaway box-only), a Playmaker, an Apple Aurport Express, a Chromecast Audio or alike to the A.Aux of the 9000.

I believe the Beolab receiver 1 works with all Beolabs except the Beolab 5

Hi,

Please tell us a little more about what you would like to achieve:

everything in one room or Lab 5's in one room and Lab 3's in another?

Are some of these speakers already connected to your BS9000 and are you happy with the current placement?

Which specific parts of your envisaged setup need to be wireless (eg, because you would you have problems routing cables)?

If it's a multiroom setup you are looking to achieve, then perhaps retain the BS9000 connected to one pair of speakers, add a NL/ML converter to the 9000, and buy an essence for the other room (and connect the other speakers to this). You'd have the ability to stream audio, would have an aux input in both rooms, and could map all the sources such that any of them can be played in either (or both) rooms.

The link between the two rooms is simply ethernet (netlink) and can be conveyed over wifi if you desired, or a more stable, lower latency solution if there is no possibility to connect an ethernet cable between the two rooms might be to use powerline adapters (ethernet over the mains) at each end.

Kind Regards,

Martin.

Thank you all for your excellent comments-- wow, what a great source of info!

we are renovating our home in London and I am trying to explore the most flexible possible setups. I am planning to use the BS 9000 with the BL5 I ideally in a wireless setup-- yes so no visible cables (please) as we are building s mimalist open plan reception so yes there will need to be power for these "beasts". I need a way to link  laptop and iPad etc. into BS9000 since there is no port currently to accept them and again, trying to do it in a very hidden way since the room is all open.

On another floor I am trying to resserect the Avant 7-40 which needs HDMI so I can use with chrome cast or Apple TV etc.  I would like to add the BL3 to TV.  Currently I have BL3 and BL5 with Avant which is fabulous sound but picture of course is old tech and small screen by today's standards but still very nice in smaller setting.

Since we also have a double volume room linked to the reception another option would be to place the BL3 on this lower level if they too could be linked wirelessly to BS9000 (on floor above but opening into the lower ground floor).  It would be amazing to have the sound on both floors of it could be done wirelessly.

Is there anyone in London I could turn to for help  sorting this out? As we are now working with our architect to place power points etc. ? I need to provide input for things like any special cabling I would like.

Is there any portable controller where you could plug in music or link to library remotely and then simply select in which zone you are in?

Sorry for all the questions and greatly appreciate all the input.

Best wishes for the holidays,

Ed

ps I have one sonos speaker and bridge our kids gave us when we were living in Asia for a couple of years and I was so impressed with the simplicity but it isn't BO sound of course at that pricepont

Thanks for further details.

Since your setup and your wishes are complex - and your home is being renovated - my advice would be to consult a local B&O dealer/installer for advice.

It is possible - as already done - to give you some general input, but if you want a descent (and maybe even future proof) installation, you need someone on location.

Of course that would be a paid-for service, but renovating a house is pricy anyway - think of it as an investment in a suitable A/V setup for the years to come.

By the way - as skilled installer might also give you exact answers to your questions in your other post.

Hello again,

Does it make sense to have ethernet ports (Cat 7) placed in positions where I want to a) have the Moment and b) possible TV's?  I am giving up on conversion of the BV 7-40 Mk1 for the UK-- pity, love the stand and the soundbar, if only I could cheaply swap screens to later generation.

I am trying to figure by using my BL5 in main reception with Moment (or BS9000) does the BS 9000 need to be "on" in order to get sound to BL5?  That would be a pity.

I have a pair of BL3's on stand but wondering if A9 better solution given wireless possibility and having to have transmitter and receivers for BL3s? Any thoughts on this sound wise-- A9 vs BL3's?

What is best speaker cable to use with BL5 please.

Many thanks and sorry for all the questions-- this is such a great source of unfiltered info!
