Gilbert,

are you happy with your Moment ?

I have a BeoSound 5 too and may be i could replace it with a Moment.

Do you use a Nas or a hard drive to store your music to replace the BeoMaster 5 ?

Nice Christmas gift.

There is no Bluetooth TRANSMITTER build in the Moment as standard, so it won't be an easy one.

My simple thought is to buy a Bluetooth transmitter and with some adapter cable connect it to your Moment's audio out, or BLC. If it will work depends on what BT transmitter to use, I do not have experience with BT transmitters for a H7.

The bluetooth module in the base station of the BS moment is capable of transmitting and receiving audio.
Transmitting is just not implemented in SW at the moment.

Yes i'm happy , the setup was ok, but I have decided not to include any of my own music at this stage .

I want to explore the posibility off the Deezer library and if I feel that i'm missing some music than i will make the decision to import more than 100 gb of my own music., this is based on all the information on this formu regarding all the problems with NAS twonky etc. , maybe the deezer is enough for me ........time will show .

Than i hope that at some stage they will update the SW with this, this will increase the "experience" of using the Moment and H7

BeoMotion:
The bluetooth module in the base station of the BS moment is capable of transmitting and receiving audio.
Transmitting is just not implemented in SW at the moment.

When a group of two or more Bluetooth devices are sharing information together, they form a kind of ad-hoc, mini computer network called a piconet

The Moment’s Bluetooth device is indeed capable of sending and receiving data (they have to negotiate), in the case of the Moment its bluetooth device is the master (the overall controller of the network).

But I can’t find anywhere in the sparse technical data of the Moment, that this Bluetooth device would be capable to send its data (in this case the Hub's music) to another device, that this already is implemented and would be possible by a simple software change.

If you have some more inside information that we missed, please share it.

There are small BT ICs/modules with embedded MCUs mainly for the IoT and there are full blown peripheral WiFi + BT modules that are used in combination with an MPU that is running linux, windows, RTOS, ...

You are right that those IoT modules are quite limited and some even don't support master mode.
The peripheral modules where WiFi and BT are integrated are much more powerful and there are no such limitations on the BT side.

The BT part of such a chip it connected to the main processor via UART.
All of the IC's I know offer additionally audio streaming over BT.
In this case data communication between host and BT IC uses UART and audio is fed via I2S.
Really all of those chips do have I2S data input and output, thus allow sending and receiving.

On the SoM (System on Module) that is used in the Moment there is a WiLink8 chipset from Texas Instruments.
Most likely an WL1831 or WL1835.
You can clearly read in its data sheet that there is I2S input/output for audio streaming.
So there are no limitations on the hardware side.

BeoMotion.

Perfect !

Where did you find out they using the T.I. WiLink8 chip? Do you have the service manual?

EDIT: if so, would it more likely they use the WL1831MOD ?

Very interesting!

Well inside the Moment there is a Stream800 from StreamUnlimited.
You can find some details about it HERE
On the picture of the SoM you cannot see the WiFi / BT module since it is mounted on the backside of the PCB.

It is based on a TI AM335X and there are several configuration options. I'm not sure which one B&O choose for the Moment.
Maybe a AM3352 (no graphic acceleration) combined with WL1831 (BT / 2.4 GHz / one antenna only ).
They would have chosen the WL1835 if the Moment should support MIMO WiFi with two antennas.

So Stream800 is very similar to e.g. BeagleBone Black and they also sell a special cape LINK for low cost prototyping of their multiroom solution.

Do not bring me into temptation, my lovely wife would divorce me if I opened up her favorite player.

Strange that nobody wants to know what hardware they are using inside the beosound Moment

I think we already know what is inside.
The tablet is based on a nvidia tegra 3 SoC. LINK
The base station is build around a Stream800 with a TI Sitara AM335X SoC. LINK

Most content is accessible from a mobile device anyway so I presume this is the logic for not have a fixed headphone out from the Moment or any other digital player?

Does anyone know if there is already an update of Moment's software so that it is able to transmit audio via Bluetooth? I have H7 that I would like to use with my Moment.
