I have A problem with both my Beolab 8000, when I turn the stereo on they remain in std.by with the red diode on
If I turn the power off for A couple of hours they work fine for about 30 minutes and then they both goes back to std.by (not at the same time but within 10 minutes) the problem started on the left speaker about a month ago and on the right speaker last week.
I have the service manual and I think that the problem is on pcb02 power supply maybe some bad capacitors in the std.by circuit??
Until now I have cleaned them inside as the foam has become very sticky and ran in between som of the components but that didn't help.

Measure the Power_On signal on the powerlink cable.
It can be the BL8000, but both ? .... but also the amplifier. Maybe the output transistor needs replacement?
Check it with a simple multimeter. The signal ist around 5V for "ON"

A quick question first - are you using the powerlink inputs (from a B&O 'stereo') or the line inputs on your BeoLab 8000s? Powerlink uses a trigger signal whereas the line inputs use sensing of the audio level, so knowing which input is being used will help to narrow down where the problem lies.

They are connected to my Beovision 7 with powerlink cables, I also tried to connect them directly to my Beomaster 7000 with powerlink and to an Beomaster 5500 with line cables, they won't turn on unless I unplug the power over night then they work fine for about half an hour. That makes me think that it has something to do with the std. By circuit because the rest of power supply and the amplifier is without power when the speaker is off??
I also find it strange that the same occurres on to 16 year old speakers within 3 weeks. Unless it is a known problem?

Yes, it does seem strange, although sometimes failures do just occur very close together time wise so it could just be a genuine coincidence.
The sticky mess that the degrading foam creates can cause issues as it is corrosive and tends to eat the tracks on the circuit boards - so this might be the cause your issues.
Expansion and contraction as a result of heat can make these kind of faults appear intermittent in nature too so that might fit with your symptoms.
Sorry I can't be much more specific with my help but it is not really possible to diagnose these types of faults without the unit on the bench in front of you.
An experienced technician will often be able to locate (and hopefully fix) the problem at component level, or B&O service will tend to diagnose the problem to circuit board level and replace the relevant PCB if it is still available as a spare part.
Where in the world are you located? - somebody here may be able to make a suggestions / recommendation for who to approach to get them looked at if you are not confident to investigate the issue further yourself.

if so - he is in the best situation for getting his BL's looked at.

I finally get them back in working order, I cleaned the pcb and the connections, checked the voltages according to the service manual and used them for about a week before putting them back together and everything seems to be ok:-)
Yes I am from Denmark, but also here it can be difficult to find a good repair man. A few years ago you could go to your locale B&O dealer and talk to the technician yourself. But today only a salesman is present, and all he says is "that could be a lot of things" and then he send them to the other end of the country for repair.
