Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Looking good so far. Based on their short depth, I assume they're meant for wall mounting. I've always wanted some wall mounters. The S40 actually sounded pretty great mounted on the wall in my garage (large room), but not so great wall mounted in the spare bedroom (small room).
Yes its wall mount, I have a pair of beovox 3000, its like night and day, when standing free and wall mounting, I think the 3000s more than the 1600s, but the look will fit to my BM 901 and BG 1202.

Bought these speakers from Martin (Dillen), as is and not tested, but as I know Martin I know they are better than his description, now they are here. Both of them looks the same, paint rests on the wood and the grills, some dirt and dust.Back with numbersI pried of the grills, they are fastened with each 6 small nails and comes of easy, be careful some of these grills may be glued.Perforated steel plate with a wood frame, I cleaned these with water, wet them, spray on detergent, scrub with dishwasher brush, clean of with water, leave to dry.Speaker frontDrivers out, all you need is a screw driver and a recipient for the screws and fastenersNow pull out all the wool stuff. This is wool from north Andalusian Lamas, cut and carded in the month of October during full moon, put it in a plastic bag, each speaker one bag, to get the same amount back when finishing.Bass driver, see the old foam gasket, has to come off, and attach new foamTweeter, the sameThe crossover, fastened with one screw to the housing, comes out easy.I marked the wires, and cut them all of near the solder points, and has the empty cabinet. Here before sanding.
After sanding, before sanding I clean with ISP.Then I soak it with boiled linseed oil, leave to soak for 1 hour, wipe of excess and leave for 24 hours.Here polished with a micro fiber cloth, such beauties Then onto the drivers, clean of old gaskets, here one doneAll done with new gaskets, the foam stuff you use to seal doors and windows (Homedepot)Next to come, crossovers, ordered capacitors from parts express, will arrive on Tuesday, but come to think of it, I may have some in the dungeon.

Next to come, crossovers, ordered capacitors from parts express, came today, as I want these speakers to be perfect I ordered Dayton caps, here the board after cleaning and desoldering the old caps, I also desoldered the resistors where needed to check resistance, all 3 resistors are good. The Daytons and wires attachedPlaced crossovers and put in the felt stuff, put in the drivers, tested, attached the fronts, and here you go. The other one, and done, for the small size of these speakers I'm impressed of how great they sound

Put them at earheight (when you sit down and listen, that's quite low in fact) on the wall or close up against it,with a good distance between them and listen again.

Hi Soren. Sorry for replying to such an old post. Just wondering if you changed the speaker cable connections and cable when you refurbished the 1600s?

As the old cable and the 2 pin DIN plugs was OK, I just gave the cables a good wash, straightened the twists and nicks and soldered them back again.

I always leave the original cables if possible, only if I have to run more than 10 meters do I use a thicker cable, I think the B&O is 0.5 mm2, (20 gauge), for longer than 10 meters I use 1.3 mm2, (16 gauge), for short runs I dont think it matters, I checked a Monster cable against a B&O cable 3 meters both of them, and the Monster cable had more resistance than the B&O cable.
