Beosound 8 - old Apple port removal

Has anyone removed or attempted to remove the old Apple port of the Beosound 8 dock? How many leads go into the older style dock?

Beosound 8, Beotime, Beocom 4, Beo 5, Lutron Rania, MacBook 15" (Mid 2015), iPad Pro, iPhone 6S, B&O Play H3, Beolit 12, Form 2, A8 Headphones, B&O Play A1, B&O Essence

I haven't done this myself, but the service manual appears to indicate one 8 pin connector

I wonder if the A8 headphone dock has 8 pins on the internal. That would be handy.
