Got myself a new toy. A DIY Function generator, Tech sheet and description here

It comes with some components already soldered in place, looks like this

Following the instructions downloaded from the site it was easy to place and solder everything, I started out with the caps, there are 21 switches with each 6 pins to be soldered, that alone is 126 solder points

Around 150 solder points and some screwing later it looked like this

I connected it directly to the oscilloscope and the sine signal was spot on, 5 V and 1000 Hz as shown in the display

I tried all the other wave forms and functions and everything worked as it should. The function generator cost me USD 50.00 incl. shipping to Mexico from Amazon US, the professionals will maybe wrinkle their nose, but for a hobbyist like me I think it is a good cheep solution. I will now have to find or build a housing for it.

Total working time 1.5 hours inclusive testing, I will now have to find out how to use it, there will be extensive mailing with Sonavor Smile

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

That appears to be a very useful gadget. For many purposes, you can do with the output from a computer or a CD player, but an easily controlled and known reference signal often makes things much easier.
