Flere:Hope it can be paired with a Essence remote. Would be nice combination.
Would be nice combination.
I find the display so ghastly and 90's looking. Also the word "GO" is a terrible idea as it is only english friendly and I'm sure there will be lots of instances where the word "Go" doesn't make much sense.

The article ends with "We have a full briefing on this and other news from Bang & Olufsen later today at CES 2016."
I wonder what the "other news" will be?

I believe that, as international forums like this show, people all over the world understand English and in the kinds of work that earn the money to buy premium products it's spoken to quite a level. So, terrible is not really the word perhaps?

I can't agree more! Personally I got stuck with an LG OLED TV( B&O still doesn't have an OLED or HDMI 2.2) so a center speaker is imperative. Recently I've purchased a beolab 10 but I would have preferred a WISA speaker and perhaps a newer model(Beolab 10 sounds a bit boxy but maybe is just me). Talking about speakers I'm waiting for ceiling speakers as well(WISA of course) so that I can enjoy DTS:X/Atmos movies
I gotta say, I'm not a fan of the design. What I love most about B&O products is that it looks like they were designed for 20 years in the future, not 20 years in the past. Just my opinion though.
Understating English is only part of the issue. "GO" is a terrible user interface element. The early iPhone prototypes that Apple made had "Home" written on the home button. This would have limited them greatly in the future as this universal "home" button went on to serve many other purposes that have nothing to do with going to the home screen.
The BeoSound 5 also had a "Go" button. To my disbelief you would put the "Go" button to pause your music or "Go" to show album artwork. How does that make any sense? Its totally unintuitive and very restricting.
Simonbeo, incredibly arrogant of you to presume that! Very short sighted!
Even Paul W settles down some time - and buys himself a new (B&O) tv ;-))
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Maybe after a few years usage the 'GO' will wear off like it does on the beo4. Then everyone can be happy

Thank you!
I shall take that as a compliment.

Ban boring signatures!
What a beautiful and contemporary rethinking og the BeoLab 3500 design and how well thought of B&O to make a stereo system/sound bar with built in speakers that can both be used as a stand alone hifi system aswell as a sound bar for non-B&O televisions. Let us for once be positive and applaude B&O for making this rational decision!

This might actually be the replacement I need in the living room instead of the Moment :)

Paul I agree. Go is on almost all types of remotes. However the display on the Beosound 35 does have a 90's or even late 80's look. The only color I saw was blue with some white. I wonder if the display can be dimmed.

I'm not sure what you're agreeing with! PaulW was complaining that Simonbeo was "incredibly arrogant" for presumimg most likely customers would understand the "GO" button, however you then go on to say "GO" is used on "almost all types of remotes"!
Are we then to believe that "almost all" manufacturers are arrogant?
So, is using the word "GO" likely to cause international confusion or has PaulW "incredibly" overreacted?

And no mention of Pipe & Slippers ........ yet...........
I don't know why Paul w is even interested in new launches, he has already made it clear that he does not like large TVs and uses his apple laptop for watching his skateboard programmes, Infact he would have no time with all his holidays, gym, biking, church of Apple etc.
I am convinced he only comes on here to troll, as whatever is launched he's always negative, for someone who complains about the brand, never buys anything, says we are all in the dark ages etc.
Why don't you go on a Bose, Apple, travel, fitness forum, or watch Bruno as you like fashion.

Wow! I guess it is almost a poison pill to agree with Paul on something. Maybe arrogant was too strong. However the Beosound 35 display does have a 90's look to it.
Personally I have never seen another product or remote with a "Go" button. Outside of B&O that is.
Even so I doubt "go" would act as a pause button among other random things.
Only on beoworld could the naming of a button provoke this much debate
Severed_Hand_of_Skywalker:Even so I doubt "go" would act as a pause button among other random things.
Why not? To my mind 'GO' is synonymous with 'PLAY', and the play button on many remotes also acts as pause if you press it again - it's quite common across many manufacturers for the second press of a button to cancel / reverse / execute the antonym of the first press so I suspect that is a concept that will be fairly well understood.
Martin.
If someone walked up to your stereo and you ask them to pause it they would never think "go" would pause music. Heck I wouldn't even think "go" would mean play. This is a perfect example of something non intuitive.
They could have used an icon to represent something more universal.

Agreed! To me, the "Go" button is iconic for B&O. Who would have thought that a new product launch would initiate a controversy over a button that B&O has had for decades?
Knock, knock... Is this the GO or BS35 thread? If not I will >>> GO
Looking for some sound reviews of the BS35, does it need a BL19 or not to have a decent sound, it all looks so small to me...
"Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see, let your ears tell you the truth."
Chris:Looking for some sound reviews of the BS35, does it need a BL19 or not to have a decent sound, it all looks so small to me...
Whilst the reaction from those at CES appears to be positive (both from an audio and a design stance) - I suspect we're unlikely to get much in the way of serious reviews until closer to the April availability date, if for no other reason than CES is unlikely to be the best environment to conduct any serious listening tests.

There is no way of connecting a BL19 to the device!
If you are looking for something, which delievers the power of a BL19, I guess the BS35 is the wrong place to look.
As for sound reviews, I'd prefer to wait untill I can have a 'hear' myself, when it comes to the shops in 3 months time.
That said - I trust that the guys in Struer have tuned it well.
But - as always - it will depend on the room, where you place it, if it is 'descent' enough.

smile and enjoy the moment
Flere: Weebyx:This might actually be the replacement I need in the living room instead of the Moment :)/weebyxI am wondering about this. My guess is that it is more a combination of Essence+Beolab than of Moment+Beolab in terms of functionality.
Weebyx:This might actually be the replacement I need in the living room instead of the Moment :)/weebyx
Weebyx:replace the BS3000/Beolab7.1 in the Livingroom, with the BS35.
I would be nice to gave the extra possibilities, but I am as always careful, and especially with CES reporters.
The new BS35 seems to me no more then a reworked, modernised version of the old BL3500. The 7.1 is absolutely awesome and a serious step higher.
Weebyx:In the bedroom I will replace the BL2000 with an A6
Exactly what I would like to do in my bathroom, but I'm a bit scared of the humid conditions in the bathroom.

Since I use the Beosound3000 only to drive my Beolab 7.1(under the tv) in the Living room, and 95% of the time in AUX mode, then the BS35 would be a perfect replacement for me.. If... and only if there is no sound-delay on the optical in, AND it can be used with the A6 in multiroom functionality..
/Weebyx
My BEO4's have "GO" on them so it's not a new wording in B&O's vocabulary and probably has a more global appeal. ("go" is "zou" in Chinese so more similar than "Kaishi" meaning "start")
I can see the 35 being a sound solution (no pun attend) for a lot of people and could be a good seller like the 3500.
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
Aussie Michael:Is it WISA? I love it
No WISA as it is not intended as a separate speaker but as a sound system OR as an additional multi room speaker. The BeoSound 35 also does not have a dedicated Left or Right switch. It's an all in one sound system.
The BeoLab 3500 which, more or less, it replaces also doesn't have a dedicated PowerLink connection to connect it to a BeoSound/BeoVision.
Weebyx: I just need to figure out if I will get full multiroom functionality with the BS35/A6 only, or if the Moment is needed for the units to "join-in" on eachother ?Anyone know if this is possible ?/Weebyx

I believe you will, as I have it with A9 + A6 combo. Even better, I have connected my Beocenter 8500 to A6 line-in for CD playback and can "share" that sound in multiroom to A9 via NL.
OT: I like the design amd can easily imagine it as a soundbar/sound system for my bedroom. Price is allright - let's see though how it really sounds once it is released.
Maybe it's a bit of a shame it does not have full soundbar functionality = virtual surround on optical in.
