Hi

I have bought a beoplay s8 set and tested it at the rear of my surround set up.

i can't select the beoplay s8 or the beolab 14 in the list of speaker of my bv7 mk6, so I have selected beolab 5.

as I have beolab 5 as front speakers, there are no cable plugged into the sub input of the bv 7.

when no sub is used, the bv 7 will select  the most capable speaker for the bass : the bl5.

It seems that the s8 sub at the rear receives also the bass signal.

is it due to the fact I selected "beolab 5" in the list of speaker instead of any other beolab ?

This beolay s8 seems to have every 5 amps in working condition as I have tested the rj45 front inout and the rear input. It looks like I have been lucky.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

Yes, selecting beolab 5 for any channel will disable any high pass filtering.

Try setting the speaker type to something at the other end of the range, for example the BL4 if that is an available option.

Interesting. the general consensus seemed to be that B&O had removed the extra amps from later models. Did you buy them new or used?

Martin.

Hi martin,

thanks for your answer.

I bought it on ebay, brand new at a bargain price. The seller has won it apparently.

if it can be of any help I can post the beginning of the serial number.

I am aware of the fact that normally there are only 2 amps activated.

I tried rear and front inputs but not the both at the same time.

I use a powerlink cable with the triangle on it and an adaptor rj45 from steve and I still have a little hummm noise when no sound is transmitted.

best regards

olivier
