I am concidering buying a S/H  Beosound 9000 but I am not sure what look for, what are the differences between the Mk1 to Mk3 and are there any to avoid and anything to look out for

Go for a mk3 as its the last one manufactured.

I had read that lasers are more difficult to find for the Mk3, other than being newer does it offer any advantages
