How do I choose The AUX Source on a Beosound Overture (4000) with a Beo4 remote?? Is this possible??? I can not seem to get it to work...

I should clarify this is on an ML system with a few passive amps and a BL3500 & BL2000. I appear to have to press the radio button first and then go into the LIST on the BEO4 to select A.AUX. I cannot select A.AUX from the outset to start he system. I am using the BeoSound 4000 (Overture) as a source.
Any thoughts would be helpful

If the A.Aux is already in the List, just push List untill it shows and then Go (dependent on your Beo4 version).
On some (the newer) Beo4 you can Move the entries in List - and put the A.Aux in the firste place.
Then it - actually - is quite easy to start up the 'Aux source'.
If this does not work in the linkrooms, you will either have to update the software of the linkproducts or use the trick with pushing Radio before you start.

That is the way I am using the passives and the BL3500 in the link rooms I press RADIO and then A.AUX. Is this as you mention a software issue and is it something I can correct at home??? I do have multiple passive with 2 at the moment not is use. Would I be able to tell what software is compatible with A.AUX fuction or is that too difficult to do at home?? It would be great to just press A.AUX and away I go.
The software is chip based.
Usually you let a B&O technician do that kind of stuff.
However, if you can get hold on these chips and you are capable of doing these things, I don't see anything speaking against doing it.
But you hould consider, if it is worth the money (for all items) and the efford.
From memory - you will need at least a 1.6 software (somebody please correct me, if I am wrong).
You need a passive with software version 1.5 or higher for it to support the A.AUX command.
The software version is usually printed on the product label on the bottom of each passive. The later passives which were manufactured in the Czech Republic (which also have a plastic underside to the casing) don't have the software versions printed on them but they are probably new enough to have the necessary software (I don't know the exact dates involved though so there might be some that are pre v1.5).
Older units can be updated, but the part for the new software consists of an entire new microprocessor module rather than just an EPROM so is probably no cheaper than buying a used passive with the correct software.

MM: I believe v1.5 added A.AUX, and v1.6 then added MLGW support.

Ok checked one of the Czech Republic Amps No luck on that one! DARN :-( One more to go will not be able to check it till next weekend though. Oh well wish me luck. Other wise the the hit the Radio button first approach will have to work..
Did you try one of the unused audio sources like A.TAPE2/N.MUSIC or PHONO/N.RADIO?
Should also open the AUX-port of your Ouverture...
Or maybe as a workaraound set the Ouverture to A.OPT 2 and try a video source from linkroom (TV, DVD...)
- if no videomaster is connected..

My main goal is to be able to listen to the media I have stored on my computer. I have managed to connect the computer to the AUX port of the Beosound 4000 (Overture). It works very well. Now I would just like to be in a link room and hit the A.AUX button on the BEO4 remote and have the computer source start to play. What I am realizing is that my passive and BL3500 do not have the correct software installed and I am forced to do a work around. Hopefully I can get it figured out. Mostly likely by purchasing ever newer products unfortunately.
A.tape or A.mem on a more recent Beo4 works with my Beosound 9000 connected to a Beolab 3500 from the late 90's. I suspect that on an Ouverture that actually has a cassette deck this will just result in the cassette starting, but it could be worth a try at least.

That`s why I suggest A.TAPE2 or PHONO....
My bad, I agree with you Stefan. Any command that relates to extra equipment that is possible to to connect to the Aux port of the Ouverture, such as the ones you suggest should hopefully do the trick.
I managed to pick up another passive. Once again no luck. Well now I have a bunch of these as back up. Hopefully I can set up a bunch of other zones!
