I have recently decided to buy some good old fashioned LP's so need something to play them on. I do have a beogram 1000 in a radiogram and a couple older decks (42v and 610v) but nothing that I would say is useable on a day to day basis.

I want to spend as little as possible so the later decks are out of the equation, so is the 4000 series.

Basically what would you all recommend for a good sounding budget B&O deck. It would be mostly connected to an 80's BM 6000

The Beogram 6000, which was made for this receiver is good but so is the tangential 6002, which is belt drive but is really a 4002 in new clothes. Usually very cheap and an excellent deck.

Both will work via the remote control, if you have one!

Had a quick look on a well known auction site! QDA are selling a 6002 - but are asking £475, which is about 5x what I would value it at. There is a shabby 6006 (linear drive - good but complicated!!) which looks cheap! A 5005 is also not bad, and a 5000, which could well be the pick of the lot.

The radial tracking B&O decks are very common compared to the linear trackers - the mechanics are the same depending on the vintage and easy to fix, while they sound good and would work well on a day to day basis.

I have used a Beogram 1902 with great pleasure, as with the later Beogram 1800.

Edit: The Beogram 5000 that Peter links to is basically the same as the Beogram 1800 - reliable stuff that can be remote-controlled with your Beomaster 6000 Smile

Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.
