I bought a house a few years ago and there was a Beogram 2202 lying in the basement. I didn't throw it away as I liked the looks of it and thought I might give it a spin one day.
Now I've been messing around with it for almost a whole day and trying to figure out why it's not operating properly. When I plug in the power, it starts turning automatically. No button willl turn it off. Pressing stop starts operating the tonearm and moves it into playing position on a record. Pressing stop again sets the tonearm back into resting position, but the motor keeps turning the record. The pause button seems to do what it should, but the start button will neither start nor stop tonearm nor turntable.
The 33/45 buttons switches correctly between speed.
I've opened the whole thing a couple of times, and everything seems to be looking in good condition, no dust or dirty parts - surprisingly clean. I've given it a bit of oil, but it made no difference.
I blew a fuse when I had it open trying to operate it, replaced the fuse and now it's back to where it was.
Don't really know where to go from here, it's not so fun to use if I have to introduce an external power switch to hook it up to my new non-B&O amp (which arrives by UPS in a couple of days).
Any much advice appreciated!
Check if one of the buttons (the TURN button in particular) is hanging.They should all make a small but well-defined click when pressed.

Hi, thanks for a very quick reply. You're probably right, the TURN and START buttons don't click. The STOP and PAUSE buttons click (and work fine). Any known solutions to that problem?
Try working with them a little, pressing them a little harder than you would normallydo (they will stand A LOT of fingerpressure). Excersize them a bit and see if they will losen up.Still no luck ? Then you will need to take apart the front panel and repair/replace the contacts in the affected buttons.Not as difficult as it sounds.
Ok, I've already done what I can with part I of your advice, so I need to open the front panel (again) to see if I can figure out why the contacts are not working. Thanks again!
Turned out it wasn't such a good idea. When trying to take apart the front switch panel from the board of connections, I saw that there was some glue residue in place (modern rubber type glue, so probably some 90's-00's attempt at fixing something) - and one of the light diodes was stuck and thus broke it's connections to the board. Well, that's a minor issue - it's only a light. Hope I have some luck in getting it back together again.
Status update: Finally got the front button panel back together. Broke another light diode (so that the only light now working is the START light), but that's not essiential.
Seems to me the buttons themselves are working as they should, the START and TURN copper connectors are triggered by the buttons, but nothing happens. I tried to scrape off a little on the copper connectors in case they were oxidised.
Any other ideas, anyone? : )
