I have noticed a few interesting things on my V1, or more like two interesting things. 1. The TV says "when a Bang olufsen dvd or blu-ray player" is connected that it will be controlled by the tv. B&O don't have a bluray player.
2. The TV says on information about the different led color/blinks that it might be in stand by, or recording a program. This makes me think it would be possible to record TV to a USB-memory. Perhaps B&O cut this feature in last second, either way a shame since very common tv´s today have the feature. Maybe they cut it to introduce it on more expensive B&O sets with the same video engine? Or perhaps it will come with a software update later? I would have use for the feature and I think a lot of people would like that also.
This brings me to a feature request. The EPG, which looks very nice, don't have a timer feature. In many other systems it is possible to navigate to a future program and put a timer on it. So the TV can change channel when the next program is on on that channel.
Regarding the Media feature in the TV I have tried it out with Plex Media server running on Mountain Lion and that works (a review said it did not work). Another thing I was thinking about is that it is supposed to support both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi. My V1 can only see my 2.4Ghz network(they have separate SSID names). Using the AirPort utility from Apple I can see that it connects and establishes a speed of about 144mbit most of the time. This works fine but I am thinking about switching to ethernet but just perhaps. I have an Apple TV connected also and both have just 100mbit ethernet (not gigabit) so it would be possible to use a ethernet-splitter adaptor to get two ports via one cable. Not sure I have space for such an adapter inside the V1 however :)
Thats it for now :)

Hi,as a new customer (& forum member - Hello to all!), before purchasing my V1-40 I also had some thoughts upon a possible USB recording feature. Beocare answer as follows:"Do not support USB recording and no plans to"Still, in my case both the picture and sound quality of the V1 kept me from purchasing a Loewe Connect ID, which obviously features HDD/USB recording at a high level (twin tuner!). I'd really appreciate a recording option (even via paid upgrade), but maybe such a feature is planned to be found on future models with the new video engine...
Other things I'd like to share:
I had big troubles streaming video content via wired ethernet. Seems that the inbuilt LAN interface is too slow - I've also placed a support request on this one... using the WLAN option there's no problem in streaming, everything is way faster. And I didn't have any issues using wired ethernet with my old streaming box (aside from the fact that it couldn't playback MKV/H264 content). Finally, EPG: my V1 keeps "forgetting" all EPG data after a standby. I'm using DVB-S2 in Austria. No idea whats wrong here, but this is really annoying. Maybe you're having similar problems?/MIKPS: my V1 arrived last week, and all the joints between front and rear case have been protected with paper strips accordingly... so no paint marks at all on my unit... but I had to go for the table stand due to the wall mount recall issue, but I like it now

144mbit or 144Mb/s ?
Only my Macbook and MacMini get up to that speed

Hi there, and welcome to Beoworld!
I'm a new customer to B&O as well, having purchased my first serious B&O product, a 40" V1, for which I am awaiting delivery any day now, with bated breath!
I'm very interested to read that B&O appear to have quickly responded to some production or packaging teething problems, re some units being unpacked and found to have scratched paint - seemingly at the joins where the 'hinges' of the front and back meet, and can scrape together either during shipment or assembly - by placing paper strips to ameliorate any such happening.
I'm so hoping my TV will have had the same packaging modifications and not present any problems re the paint finish or otherwise to sully my first new serious B&O purchase!
I only saw the table stand on a 32" model, but did like it nonetheless.
Any knowledge as to what the actual problem was with the wall mount?
Kind regards
John....

Thanks for the welcome!
It took me a lot of time and consideration to finally settle on the V1, but now I'm really impressed and satisfied with my decision. And if it stays that way, I'm quite sure further B&O gear will follow...
Hopefully your V1 will be without any issues as well. I ordered mine at the beginning of June, and it already had those "protecting" paper strips. Glad that they really try to react quickly on such user concerns/issues. Also the support is very nice, and really intends to listen to the customers... as I've been told, the EPG issue mentioned in my first post might get resolved in a future software update.
As for the wall mount I don't know any further details. The only thing I remember is that for the revised wall bracket you now have to specify the preferred rotation axis location before ordering, whilst the first version didn't have that limitation.
Best regards,
MIK

Best regards, MIK Oh, I have thought about this and I think that I now know what the problem is. On the wall mount I have the stand has two long bars that are not mounted on the mount in packaging. This is because they are not the same length, you see, one pin is longer than the other that goes into the tv because of the tv construction. It is the same on every stand (table stand etc) but on them the pins are not removeable. On the wall mount the pins/bars are screwed onto the hinges that are on the wall mount. They might be too weak to withstand the weight of the TV and now I am a bit more scared that they might fail at any time..

OUCH !!
Now you/we know what the problem is/was I suggest you ring your dealer tomorrow !!

I checked yesterday and it said 144MB/s as you can see here. Actually I think it could go even faster. The new Macs can get up to 450.

I am not sure this is the actual issue but since MIK said the new stands only seemed to have the difference that you need to specify orientation first that made me think of this. The bars are screwed together and I think this can be a quite weak construction but I have no idea. Too bad that the new stand needs to be either right or left since one might move and need a different orientation later on. They could have made the bar design different. They could have moved the unscrewable part longer out so the bars attatched to the mount was longer and you only screwed on the last few cm that differentiates. That would have given the same flexibility and also provided more stability since it is already longer into the tv.

Unfortunately I don't have any further information on this. But let me add one more thing to the story:
The wall bracket issue became "public" on the weekend before my V1 arrived, so I had to settle for the tilted floor stand as a quick backup solution. (Which I now really like and will stick to.). I took this decision because my dealer told me that the improved wall brackets should be available by July, and I didn't want to wait another couple of weeks.
To keep things safe, I'd advise you to take the hassle of exchanging the bracket since they should be available by now... maybe the part fixed to the wall doesn't even need to be changed at all.

Ah I understand. Well I have mine on a wall and don´t have a tilted stand at all. When the TV arrived there where no stands at all so I had it for a week or two without being able to use it. Then I got a wallmount but I was supposed to buy a table stand that they said was necessary to buy but I was able to get only the wall mount (for the same price also). I am now thinking that I should probably have a backup tilted stand anyway for future installations in different environments perhaps. And regarding exchanging the wall mount I don't want to do the job for B&O/my dealer. I think it is up to them to tell me the stand needs to be exchanged (if it has to be). Perhaps they remade it because if it isnt screwed in completely it might fail but not if it is used properly? If it in fact is really dangerous they should have called me by now, right? I am after all buying a B&O tv, not a samsung. The mother company is just an hour away from me so it seems weird that I should need to call them.

I completely agree on your point. However, I've placed my advice to ask the dealer for further proceeding since we all here seem to be wondering about what is the root cause of this issue. And, I am new to this brand I don't know how B&O behaves regarding previous recalls.
2 things to add: maybe the revised brackets are still not available, thus no recall so far, and far more important, at least from my experience in mechanical engineering (I'm involved in automotive development) there should have been some sort misuse and overload tests especially on the wall bracket to meet both engineering and legislative requirements. In case you don't know, you'd probably wonder what tests are being conducted on a car's doors and hinges, to stay on wall bracket topic
And, back on the original topic: in case you're trying your V1's wired ethernet port for video streaming, I'd be glad to hear about your experience. I have severe picture and audio stutter using LAN, whereas using WLAN streaming works perfectly. Tried both a LACIE NAS with Twonky and an iMac with Plex DLNA mediaserver.

Thanks for the picture - it showed me that you are using your iPad to do the measurements - interesting that the three versions of the Airport Utility I have (Mac, iPad, iPhone) all show the (same?) information differently.
Mine is showing that I currently have 14 devices connected to the Time Capsule ............... maybe that's why many are showing lower throughput rates

I was thinking about trying that but I have yet to try it. But I might try just for fun :). One thing that really irritates me is that the built in media player don't play alot of movie files. Almost all of my files is unplayable. Some are playable and stops just in the middle or somewhere a few seconds in. A few work. others doesnt work at all. I think the media player part is very poorly made right now. But it could get better, it must get better.

This weekend, I might be trying to re-route my wired network to the V1 just for fun. :)
Same topic, but on a more serious note: I'm really curious what's the problem, since LAN seems to slow for video streaming in my installation, I have to double-check the wired connection including the network switch in the attic (where it'll already have about 35°C+ by this daytime now... again: great fun!)

Did you have a look at the supported file formats list? For instance, V1 seems to be unable to playback DivX (also, not on the list), which might result from a missing license for that codec. In a slight contrast to that, .ts MPEG files seem to be supported, but the V1 cannot stream the .ts recordings from a Kathrein DVB-S2 set-top box in another room. Which formats/containers did you experience problems with?
Michael: Maybe they cut it to introduce it on more expensive B&O sets with the same video engine? Or perhaps it will come with a software update later?

Betting they cut it, but the video engine supports it. It's the same with the Surround sound decoder; it only supports 6 channels, but the Technical Sound Guide describes 7.1 setups.
Michael: Another thing I was thinking about is that it is supposed to support both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi. My V1 can only see my 2.4Ghz network(they have separate SSID names).
Remember that 2,4 GHz networks have much better range than 5 GHz. Does your Macbook detect the 5GHz network in your bedroom?

That must be an error in the Swedish translation or something. 144MB/s = 1152Mbps... And that's fast!

Hi Magnus,
Yes I also think they disabled it to let it be a feature of more expensive sets with the same cpu and engine. Very sad and I see other companies do this, not companies like B&O but I guess thats what we are seeing here anyway. Perhaps it can be hacked if the software is downloadable.
i know 5GHz have worse range but the router is five meters away :) I used to have a 2.4/5ghz mixed network but I chose to have different names on them, it felt better but it makes no difference :). I can see the 5Ghz network from my laptops without a problem. The V1 should see it also (if it supports 5ghz like it says in the tech spec.).
You are right about the Mbit :) Sorry, a bit off this time of the year.
Good night :)
Michael,
You know B&O are little horrors when it comes to software etc. I wouldn't even touch that damn media player in the V1 - in fact, I laughed when I red about it. Do what B&O promote and stick with that very clever little Apple TV box!!!
PS iSkysoft seems to do an excellent job at making all files MP4 for iTunes!
I just got a call from my local B&O dealer today, that there is a fault on the wall bracket and they are coming by my house next week to switch the bracket.
Didn't even know there was a issue with the bracket. Great service by B&O I really must say.
