Hello all you Beophilians. I got that Beocord 1200 that needs some belts change. I got some at Ebay, make the change for the bigger one at he back of the main panel, that was the easiest part. Problem is with the 2 other ones that go over it: is there an easy way to get them change without removing all of the mecanism and head plates?

No need to remove the head-block, but didn't the belts come with mounting instructions?
If not, I suggest you ask the seller for help.
It's not the easiest machine to work on.

I can warmly recommend Dillesn belt kit to this machine
The intructions that comes with the belts is propbably the best I have ever seen.
And it is written with in such nice way, even with tips about how to deal with the patience.

Please, you followers of this thread, watch also the thread "Beocord 1200 Reel to Reel Mexico" ( it looks like two threads are intertwining) to refer to a problem pertaining to changing bellts and removal of the tiny locking rings as indicated in Dillen's instruction paper.

Hello Martin:

I'm new to this forum. found this thread via searching and per reference from another forum.

I have a Beocord 1200 (Serie 04, No 43332)  which needs 3 new belts.

Do you still have belts for the 1200?

Some images from my Beocord:

The belts:

It has only one belt to capstan

The Beocord is in nice condition, electronic seems to work as far as I could test without tape.

Greetings from Austria,

    Hannes

Pursuant to previous posts on this subject i would like to add something from myself:

I  received 2 tapecounter belts (the second one is meant to replace the broken one in my BC1600) the other day from Dillon;

I'd rather ask now a question by means of a post on the forum than send D a PM, because I have a problem in following the guidelines received some time ago along with other new belts:
on the picture one could see my round metal clutch plate that should be taken off (is this step really necessary to proceed to changing the tape counter belt?). Anyway I loosened one hex grub screw , I did not see a second one as outlined in the guidelines, but can not take the clutch plate: >  use force???

In replacing earlier the solid belts of the previously mentioned BC 1600 I managed to do so successfully, however I did not touch the tape counter belt then.

The tape counter belt goes under the reel table of the right spool. Under here is also a brake arm with a felt pad.
The clutch plate at the spools reverse side holds the right spool in place.

It's very difficult to get the counter belt on the right way without taking off the right spool. The brake arm is in the way, and the
belt often prefers to slip down the spindle rather than stay at its pulley groove.

Take one more look at it!

Only hex screw(s) that hold the bushing to the spindle needs to be removed.
(Some decks have two hex screws sitting at a 90deg angle).

Hasty conclusions: I did not notice that the hex screws are situated at an angle of 90 degrees instead of 180 degrees on the bushing'.
The white plate came ealsily loose now, the next steps were no problem and the machine works smoothly now,

however :
when I stop rewinding a tape the left spool comes to an immediate stop but the right spool moves on 1 or 2 more rounds creating a problem when I subsequently activate  the Play function: tape get stuck in the reel near the spindle.

Is this a matter of adjusting the brake force and if so how?

So far thanks for your help

Hello,

I hope I can get some help with my beocord 1200.

Underneath the cluthplate there is another plate with a circular pad around the edge.  It is my understanding when the systems goes to play mode, these two discs touch.  Is there a way to adjust the distance between these two plates?  When I pull the lever to play, the two discs do not touch and seems to be something very simple but have not been able to figure it out.

Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
