As I have had the "Jesus Christ" rings (thats what I say when they fly away) in other units, and found broken or missing or flown away rings I bought this set they are not the same quality as the B&O ones, I have been searching but didnt find any, but they will do the job. The bigger sizes I can use in my normal work
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Work inside a clear plastic bag. It will catch springs, locking rings and all other flying and falling objects.
Martin
Hi Martin and Søren ,
Nothing fallen nor flown away:Imagine these reels spinning, all 3 belts successfully mounted!!!!!! My 70's recordings sound again like in the old days, hopefully soon through my BM1700, next project (ref. my thread).
Thanks to you gentlemen, merci for all your valuable help.
Aad
I forgot to ask : (it fell out of the machinery, I must admit)
Where does the little plate on the foreground belong?

A closer pic please, I cant identify it like that.
Mine is still waiting for more cleaning and assembly
I think I know now: it seems it had been glued next to the bigger one inside the bottom cover.I hope you will be as successfull as I was in the belt job.
Back in the saddle, yesterday I could finally get on with the renovation of this nice piece of equipment, for several reasons this was put on hold and the Beocord 1200 has been collecting dust on my workbench since April last year.
Yesterday I just changed a couple of caps and transistors, checked spare part inventory and dusted off the piece, found a plastic bag from Martin where several belts are included, also in the bag is lamps and caps for a BM 1900 and a volume poti for BM 1000 (used free of charge), in between my computer got stolen so I cant see what I actually ordered from Martin. As luck will all my pics and notes from disassembling are still there as I always have my B&O files and pics on at least 2 computers.
I have stocked up my cap, transistor, diode and resistor stock in the down time, so I should be able to finish this one without problems, also the waiting to do line got bigger with 2 BGs and 2 Beolits.
Will post pics and text as I go
Hi Søren,
Looking forward to that then, as always!
Being myself into QUAD and Philips at the moment, no new B&O to show (off). Am I cured?

Temporary distraction, there is no cure
My nephew is installing a new kitchen and screamed for help so the weekend will be spend in a kitchen and not at my workbench, will be back next week
Does anyone know why I can't see the photos in this forum?
Can anyone explain why I can't se many of the photoes in this forum??
After 2 years I am back on this one, until now I have changed caps and some transistors, cleaned all switches and the mechanic parts, and started assembling, I one problem though, in the lower part of the pic you can see a lever with a slot for a spring in it, i have the spring a very small one about 3 mm OD and 35 mm long, one end goes into the slot, but where does the other end go ??
Hi Soren,
Nice to meet again on the forum.
I think the following answers your question:
I put the 3-way lever in the << position and you can see a spring hooked to the other slot., although my spring looks longer than your 35 mm, but this may be due to the stretched position.
( my post may appear twice because it seems that the first try did not come through)
Although it is not relevant to BC1200 issues I take the opportunity the ask here something about the BC1600.
What do the 2 inputjackets on the side of the machine?
Can I connect here an ampifier for Playback?
The sockets are for microphones. Two mono or one stereo.
Thanks Aad the one I was looking for is the one at the red arrow, I thought it should go at the green arrow, the spring is only visible with the volume PCB off, I found it when I started on the mech. adjustments. I took this apart 3 years ago so no wonder I dont remember. But during adjustment I found too must wear on some parts (friction wear) so I decided to take some sections apart again and repair them, mostly in the tape drive lever section, the whole lever and spring operated system in the BC 1200 is a lot cheaper made than in the BC 2000, also the push button lever operated switch system is difficult to get at for cleaning and adjustment, and this BC has seen a lot of action, on some of the tape guides the chrome has worn off, so more work to do.
Here is another failure I found, apart from some missing retaining rings and washers ( checking the spare part drawings as assembling). Someone was in here before me.
Potentiometer not soldered
I took out the poti to check if it was possible to open it for cleaning, no such luck, all closed plastic housing
Here the spring correctly located
I took apart the tape drive control again, and gave it a proper cleaning and polished it with 60 micron (240 grain sanding sheets) The manual recommend carbon grease diluted with oil, I hate carbon grease, so silicon grease must do.
Dirty with wear tracks
Clean
I did front and back one by one, here I couldt get deep enough to clear the wear tracks but the rest of the surface is ok
All in
Søren Mexico: I took out the poti to check if it was possible to open it for cleaning, no such luck, all closed plastic housing
If those are standard PREH linear potentiometers you can get them open if you take a knife, slide it into the longitudinal "slot" at each end and twist it lightly.
They open and mostly they "snap" together if reassembled.
Just tried it with one of my "old stock":
(looks pretty used, btw) ;-)
Best,
Gunther
And while I was in it...
(Potentiometer clean, workbench dirty ;-) )
Thank you Gunther
Did as Gunther told me on 2 of the potentiometers but upon assembling they didnt "snap in" so I had to use a little crazy glue in the corners
Here with conductive grease applied
The plastic strip was damaged, I repaired it with a piece of tape, and glued the 2 ends together
Do not lose the 2 small nuts
Got it all assembled, and all mechanical adjustments done, Powered up with my variac, checking the 30 V supply, at 100 VAC it was at 30 VDC, adjusted to 30 VDC at 110 VAC. Put on a tape and checked play, tape moving and winding up correctly, fast forward and backward working, slow beginning and getting faster quickly, need new belts, the lamp for end of tape sensor shows light, but doesnt work, maybe an adjustment, lamps for recording lights up when recording, light for recording meters only in the right one, but both meters react when turning power on. Tomorrow onto recording and playback
Running, recording and playback, some switches causes hum at times
https://www.facebook.com/mexnielsen/videos/2106105589456228/
The hum turned out to come from my BM 1000, the volume poti fails at times, but a good workout gets it working, I have a poti that Martin gifted me waiting to get in there.
Will order belts and some lamps and details from Martin and finish it up when the spares are here.
I have been trying quite some time to get some other B&O appliances in working condition and therefore neglected to pay attention to my BC1200. When I just now wanted to play a tape it reacted with an irritating wow in playback; the belts are ok. What could be the cause of this problem?

Søren Mexico:the lamp for end of tape sensor shows light, but doesnt work,
Did you repair the photostop system ? How difficult was it if you did ? Thank you.
matador43: Søren Mexico:the lamp for end of tape sensor shows light, but doesnt work, Hi Søren, Did you repair the photostop system ? How difficult was it if you did ? Thank you.
No not yet, and I will still have to get a set of belts from Martin, but until now the BC 1200 is playing at least once a week without problems
These were not the problem because in trying to fix things the BC1200 surprised me by breaking its belts.
(Although I had posted in Feb-March 2016 about changing BC 1200 belts I must mention now that it actually was my BC1600)
As a result I hereby kindly ask Martin to send me a mail and have a set of belts ready for dispatching after my payment; I still have the mounting instructions.Thank you,
It is about a 2 belt version.
After mounting new belts the Beocord rewarded me with perfect sound.
However it did not recect when I engaged the lever into the rewind position.
I noticed just the relay as shown on the picture. When switching the FF, Play and Rw lever it does not show any motion, so I loosened the 2 screws and by
handling the switch the relay attracted the flap and the was not able to engaged any position of the switch.
What to do in order to have everything working ?
The solenoid in your photo is for the auto-stop function. It activates STOP a short amount of time (set on the circuitboard) after sensing tape end (or tape breakage).Martin
I tested that solenoid action; it reacted as you described, that is good.
Next issue on this job (this post in an edited version, no language errors):
The tape control lever in fast rewind position does not engage the mechanism ;
When I manually move the arm (271 in the sm) in the thin arrow direction it does engage the rewind , but only without tape mounted, when with tape mounted the right side reel is not following. Before taking apart things apart again I'd better ask why and what.
(Maybe I am doing something not good in this posting session)
It's not uncommon to see mechanical arms and levers seized in dry lubricants in these decks, particularly around the area in your photo. Are all levers and idler arms etc. operating freely?
I had more shafts looking like this one, so dismantle, clean, lubricate you know the drill
This picture and comment are rather cryptic as far as I am concerned: what is the relevance to my problem?
