I currently have a BV7-32 with BL 7-1 and a couple of BL6000 that I'm using as a front speakers so far. My intention is to add another two speakers in a first stage and finally the subwoofer.
I'm considering two possibilities:
A) Go for a cheaper speaker from B&O range and place them on the back (i.e.: BL4 or BL4000 or BL6000) and leave the BL6000 that I have on the front.
B) Go for a higher performance speaker and choose something like BL8000 or BL3 and move the BL6000 to the back.
The reason that I'm considering the second option is that I'm not 100% satisfied with the performance of the BL6000 on the front. I feel that beside the 7-1 the 6000 are not playing the same league.
Looking at the second hand market I got a new idea to add as a third option. I could consider buying a pair of BL1 and put them in the front. Seems that the BL1 offers enough power and enough bass so even I have to pay more than for a BL8000 perhaps I won't need to add a subwoofer like BL2 later on. However I'm afraid that those are too much for the distance I have and the size of the room. My sofa is at about 2.5 meters from the TV so the distance to the front speakers is less than 3 meters in both cases.
I would like to read the recommendations of the people in this forum who has similar installations and can give advice on which decission is more reasonable considering both sound quality and budget.

I love B&o speakers and have for many years but if the last few weeks have taught me anyting is that the only judge is your own ears and of course your wallet.
I alwasy remember how excellent my bv7 sounded with my lab 8000's and lab2 at the time i chopped them in for lab 9's and i dont regret it at all, i prob loose a bit of rumble but the lab 9's are excellent
anyway back on track i find the 6000's rubish as front speakers they dont have enough of anything to be the leading speaker.
My choice woudl be put the 6000's at the back and get 8000's for the front, i still have 6000's at the back now and will never need to change them.

I'm with Sean,
BeoLab 8000's at the front, move the 6000's to the rear - then when funds permit get a BeoLab 2 to really complete it.
A classic set-up that you'll really enjoy - then when you want to upgrade, go for BeoLab 9 at the front and BeoLab 3 at the rear. Your 8000's, 6000's and BeoLab 2 will all have a value should you wish to sell them in the future, or part exchange with a dealer - which always makes the 'upgrade path' a little more palatable!

I agree with Lee and Sean - this is what I have at home (with a V1) and it sounds great - music or movies.

Thanks Seanie, Sean and Jon for your answers. Seems that BL8000 is really a good choice. Is there any big difference between the 8000 and the 8002 that worths the price difference between them when you look at second hand market? Why nobody mention about the BL1? I could get them for about 500 Euros more than the 8000 only, isn't a good option? I feel that my BV7-32 MKIII with DVI connection (not HDMI) is getting old for the new technologies and everything I want to add makes me spend so much money. Last December I spent about 600 euros to add a Geffen, update software, etc. Yesterday I tried to install and apple tv and I can't get any sound from it. I read in this forum that it's because the older models of BV-7 can't reproduce PCM sound through coaxial digital connection. I need another software update and spend more on this TV. What I ask myself is if it's worthy to change it for a V1 and put the BV-7 with the lab 7-1 in the bedroom, or due to the difference between the beolab 7-1 and the one in V1 it will be more worthy to put a non b&o screen with an AV receiver to connect all the B&O speakers and put the BV7 in the bedroom with some second hand speakers (BL4000 or BL4). The lack of ML connection on the V1 makes me doubt, since for a portion of the price I can get a Panasonic plasma with 46 or 50 inches and a Yamaha AV receiver with preout to connect all the speakers.

As Seanie said in the very beginning the best instrument to test with is your own ears.
But although I have 4 BL4s I would not recommend them (they were fine as travelling speakers in hotel rooms which is what I got them for),
I was always impressed by the BL 4000s and liked their looks, but after lots of listening tests I chose BL 6000s as my first power link speakers, none the less I always urge people to take a serious look at the BL 4000s - one of their advantages is placement options for somewhere like a bedroom e.g. ceiling mounts, wall mounts, bookshelf mounts.

I feel going non-B&O for your centre piece would be a mistake - and going almost all the way with B&O and picking up a Beosystem 3 seems an expensive option given the changing product line.
Take a hard look at the V1 - I think it is very good and has great long term potential as B&O unfold their BeoPlay plans.
And if you don;t yet have any ML, don't start investing now.
